I'm not a part of the doom and gloom squad, but this team does need to be held responsible for the effort (or lack thereof) that they have put on this ice in the last 10ish games. It's unacceptable to be this flat, for this long, no matter what part of the season. I don't hold one player or coach responsible, I hold everyone responsible. It's Hitch's job to get the players motivated and playing right, but it's also on the players to do their jobs and come to work ready to go.
Our offense is a serious concern at this point. We're well under 2.00 GF a game without Frank. That's unacceptable for a team that's built on depth. Sure, we missed Steen for 3-4 games since we lost Frank, but other then those 3-4 games, we've had our entire roster pretty damn healthy. With the exception of the Backes/Oshie hatty nights, this team has looked unbelievably bad in the offensive zone. There was a moment tonight that summed up our existence in the last 10 or so games, where we had the puck in their zone with a delayed penalty AND a Washington player had his stick broken, and yet we put like one shot on goal in like 6 shots, with the other 5 being blocked or wide. I don't see us moving the puck into the middle of the ice on the rush when we have numbers (Sobi did this once in the first period on a 3-on-2, otherwise no one else bothered) and we NEVER try for the pass-off-pad we used to be so good at.
I'm trying to stay positive, but man, it's pretty damn hard to not start freaking out about the fact that no one on this team seems to give a **** about scoring anymore.
