You're going on the assumption those teams would have taken Stewart for those players. Of course I would rather have them over Stewart, but you don't know what the Blues would have had to give up in order to get those players.

Wasn't Stewart a more promising piece then anything any of those teams got in return? If so then it seems like a pretty safe assumption.

If Colaiacovo had been on the receiving end of that crosscheck, his spleen would have ruptured.
I'm beginning to think picking #13 has given him some kind of reverse-jinx good luck charm. He's been pretty physical and I haven't even seen him laying on the ice writhing in pain once, which happened just about every game the last time we had him. Amazing.

@jprutherford Any news at all on @dbackes42??? The silence since he left the ice is really starting to worry a lot of us.

@jgullion77 @jprutherford @dbackes42 broken foot

So what you're saying is that it isn't anything to be worried about. :sarcasm:

I just looked at JR's twitter feed and he said Backes is day to day with a lower body injury. No mention of a broken foot, although I must admit I'm concerned that's what it is. But, let's find out what it is for sure before we panic. Oh wait, I'm reading the new sky is falling forum.

You may believe that but it doesn't necessarily mean that the other GM's believed that. It's well known what Blues fans thought about Stewart and an NHL scout is likely to see the exact same thing. Some of their scouts could have told their GM's to stay away from Stewart.

This has to be a joke right, I'm @jgullion77, just tweeted Rutherford and this is what was tweeted back.
I hope you realize that no-name Zach Carver is the one who tweeted that, not Rutherford...

I've never broken my foot but severely bruised it. From seeing Backes reaction, i wouldn't think broken foot.

The Blues attempted 80 shots tonight, only 29 of them were on net.

I've been wondering tonight if there was some moment where the Blues started playing differently, and wondering if there was something specific but I think this is it. St. Louis has really been struggling to hit the net recently and that was one of their strengths before. Hit the net, crash the net, and get some rebounds. Since they've been missing the net so much lately, they haven't been able to play their game as well as they can.

To the Stewart thing, fine you're right no way of knowing what others are thinking so bully for you.

On the second part, I have no idea. I don't know who they are, I tweeted Rutherford, and that's the response I got. I don't know if JR was tweeting me and the other guy back at the same time, or if it was just some jerk thinking he was being funny.

Okay thanks lol. No I didn't know for sure, I figured that was the case, but I'm not very good at the whole twitter thing. So I didn't know whether it was JR answering the same question for 2 different people at the same time, or what you just set straight, so thank you.

Well looking at the stats I'm pretty surprised especially by the blocked shots.

Yeah they actually messed up the statline for blocked shots, the Blues should have 7 not 6. They probably missed it though because Backes still has the puck embedded into his foot.

I'm not a part of the doom and gloom squad, but this team does need to be held responsible for the effort (or lack thereof) that they have put on this ice in the last 10ish games. It's unacceptable to be this flat, for this long, no matter what part of the season. I don't hold one player or coach responsible, I hold everyone responsible. It's Hitch's job to get the players motivated and playing right, but it's also on the players to do their jobs and come to work ready to go.

Our offense is a serious concern at this point. We're well under 2.00 GF a game without Frank. That's unacceptable for a team that's built on depth. Sure, we missed Steen for 3-4 games since we lost Frank, but other then those 3-4 games, we've had our entire roster pretty damn healthy. With the exception of the Backes/Oshie hatty nights, this team has looked unbelievably bad in the offensive zone. There was a moment tonight that summed up our existence in the last 10 or so games, where we had the puck in their zone with a delayed penalty AND a Washington player had his stick broken, and yet we put like one shot on goal in like 6 shots, with the other 5 being blocked or wide. I don't see us moving the puck into the middle of the ice on the rush when we have numbers (Sobi did this once in the first period on a 3-on-2, otherwise no one else bothered) and we NEVER try for the pass-off-pad we used to be so good at.

I'm trying to stay positive, but man, it's pretty damn hard to not start freaking out about the fact that no one on this team seems to give a **** about scoring anymore.

You're not alone. That twitter dialogue you posted might as well be in Japanese for my eyes.

I might just stop watching until the playoffs, this has been just unbearable. Feels like it would take a miracle to get out of the first round. Hopefully we can win one game at least and then face the wild, if there's any team we could beat its the wild.

Minnesota is tied with LA, if we finish 2nd and Minnesota passes LA would that mean we play LA first round?

1, 2, 3 are set in each division. No possible way of facing LA in round 1.

Minnesota and LA aren't in the same division.

The only way we'd play LA in the first round is if Phoenix caught them and took over the 3rd spot in the division and they dropped into one of the wild cards...which is statistically impossible.

So hey, at least we've got that going for us! :D
