Lou Korac talked to Halak one-on-one who said the trade was still fresh and he didn't think he'd be able to focus on winning the game.

I've never broken my foot but severely bruised it. From seeing Backes reaction, i wouldn't think broken foot.

You can't always tell with all of those goofy little bones in your foot. I've skied all day on what turned out to be a broken foot that was only mildly uncomfortable...until I took it out of my boot, it swelled up a good 30-40 percent, and every time I put weight on the ball of the foot I wanted to punch the nearest person in the face just so they'd hit me in the head with their skies and knock me out.

I wouldn't trade Petro alone for Backstrom and Carlson. Bergie's nothing special, but he's not exactly a throw in. If we traded Petro(which we obviously won't) we'll just have to find a way to get someone else of his caliber. Just look at the list of recent Stanley Cup winners. All of them have an elite #1 Dman(which is what Petro is btw). The only possible exception is Pittsburgh, but they have the two best forwards in the world, so that kind of makes up for it. If Petro gets traded, it's in a full on rebuild trade. That's not going to happen any time in the foreseeable future.

We aren't trading Petro, but if I got Backstrom, Carlson, Brouwer, and a 1st (or two firsts) for Petro and Bergie, then I definitely make that deal. I don't see the Caps making it. Carlson is a probably a top 25-50 minutes eating all around defender. Backstrom would give us a #1 center. Brouwer is a 15-20 goal two way guy. A #1 pick in the top 15-20 picks. That deal makes the Blues better. As another poster stated, the Blues best defenseman this season has been JayBo. I agree with that. Can you argue that Petro is? Sure, but who would you rather have on the ice, when it counts most? I can count on Jaybo on both ends of the ice and more so on the defensive end, which is Jaybo's position. Petro I can't say I trust as much defensively. Petro does fall in the top 6-15 defenders depending on who you ask and what your criteria is...as does Jaybo in my opinion.

If the Blues were to get Backstrom and Carlson for Petro alone, then I wouldn't necessarily like it and feel like we should've got more. It would make the Blues better as Carlson and Shatty could fill that void, and Backstrom would give us a legitimate #1-2 center punch along with Backes.

Really?? I watched him exclusively for a good 5-6 shifts and felt he looked very nonthreatening in the offensive zone and lax in the defensive zone.

Then you weren't watching him carefully. He was good on the cycle, made some good hits, and had a couple shots that were blocked/deflected (as usual) off a Caps defenseman. He looked much more confident and comfortable out there in the limited ice time he saw.
