You seem to continually harp on Ryan which is very odd considering he's on a three point streak right now and he made a great play to set up a goal. Yes, he missed an opportunity but at least he got himself the opportunity as opposed to the complete lack of opportunities registered by the rest of our team, most noticeably the top line.

You go on about hockey knowledge but guess what, the opportunity Zibby had unabated to the goalie where he wound up and fired wide is a GREAT goal scoring opportunity. And when comparing goal scoring opps, Zbad and Ryan should be compared because they both could have scored.

And speaking of hockey knowledge, Ryan is not making $7 million this year. He's still one of our leading scorers despite coming off a groin surgery and an obvious wrist injury and not playing on our top line, so maybe instead of harping on him, give him a chance to get to 100% and focus your criticism on some of the other forwards who contributed nothing today.

Ryan is known as a sniper. He missed the net completely near the end of the game at a prime scoring opportunity uncontested with a clear open side. I can't be upset he missed it? Let alone the net? Yea, he played well in stretches at other times but I never said he had a bad game, did i?

If anyone else missed that(especially the likes of Turris/Mac) I would have said the same thing. Yeesh. Yea, Zibanejad missed some chances too but, IMO, none were worse than Ryan's chance. This doesn't mean i have it in against Ryan, lmao, it means he should have done better. Lol @ getting 100% and nonsense at the end as if i was harping him the entire game.

You need to calm down, man. Just in the GDT you made it look like Lehner was at fault for the loss cause of the first goal he let in but you don't see me storming in and immediately pointing out your biases.

I thought Lehner was pretty solid.

EK was very dangerous when he led the rush. He is clearly picking his spots a lot more this season. Very solid game IMO.

The big surprise for me was Michalek. He did so many little things right over the course of the game. I was really impressed with him this time out.

Ryan was fantastic through the entire game. I was really frustrated that he was saddled with Legwand and Greening. What type of offense is Ryan supposed to spark on that line? He should have been up with the Turris line the entire game. Time to plant him there and let the other lines sort themselves out.

Borocop was pretty good IMO. St Louis was really taking a ton of cheap shots, and Borocop was the guy that stood up for his team and laid down the law. I wasn't totally against his signing this past summer, but it didn't make sense to me at the time. He really showed his value to the team in this one, even if the underlying numbers people like to use wont measure it.

The kid line was generally good, but not consistent. That happens with young players so no biggy.

All in all the score was a pretty good representation of how the game went. The Sens were in it, but they were not the better team this time around.

Almost exactly my opinion as well. We lost cause their top end talent was too much vs ours.

I'm not mad at this loss. The Sens tried their best but sometimes that's just not enough. St-Louis has an amazing team.

They got to stop playing Ryan with plugs already.

Use Bobby with Turris and Mac and let everyone else figure things out.

**** spreading out the offense, especially more so now with the emergence of the kid line.

How was Chiasson today?

He was fine. But if he is still with turris and macarthur next game....then.....:shakehead

let him figure things out with zib or another center. this splitting of turris and ryan is neutralizing half the lineup.

Boro was great yesterday, I really like the way he plays. I was really happy with the signing too. He will replace Neil as our hardworking tough guy who is capable of bringing energy, intensity and grit to the lineup.

He'll probably never play better than a #6-7 D, but his pay is completely fair for that role considering where the cap is.

my observations:
- refs let a ton of things go for both sides but it seems the Blues got away with a bit more, 1-2 more power plays could have changed the outcome. Overall very good game against a strong team that was on its game.
- I know it won't happen unless it's the cup final but I think a playoff series between these two teams would be awesome to watch. Over the past 2 seasons, the Sens-Blues games have been quite nasty and entertaining.
- Karlsson is turning into Spezza with his bad turnovers. He was especially bad yesterday
- Karlsson is also unreal when he starts dangling through the entire other team!
- someone please trade for Greening. He's useless. At least Condra can be a defensive/PK specialist.
- Cowen although was on the ice for a couple of goals is continuing his consistent play.
- Lazar seems to be a key cog in the Kid line, they're not the same without him.
- Zibby's starting to find his game over the past few games. Patience is the key word with him and I think by the end of the season he'll be a strong #2C.

Overall, the better team won but I think the Sens put up a good fight!

Edit: great game by Boro again. He'll be a fan favorite for years to come. Dishes out massive checks and isn't affraid of anyone!

I know it might be obvious, but the latter prevents the former.

He's an alright fill-in. But so is Condra, so Greening is expendable. However, we've been lucky with injuries so far.

What I really want to see is JGP eventually move into the lineup, basically rendering Smith redundant (and I'm a Smith fan). We could use some more scoring touch, and JG has some sandpaper.

I simply don't understand Maclean's coaching decisions.

Continues with the same PP lines despite zero effectiveness.
Continues to dilute talent throughout the lineup so as to make most lines ineffective.
Fails to make any adjustments in the 3rd period when we only need a goal to tie (ie load up top line, increase Hoffman's minutes, ensure you have time to pull goalie etc).

I understand we don't have St. Louis talent, but we could have easily tied the game last night with some strategic move.

That Jack Adams trophy seems to render him immune from legitimate criticism.

The Sens PP?

I honestly have little to zero confidence in the 1st PP unit. Don't see how it could have affected the game in a positive way for the Sens.

??? The Sens' PP is in the top 10 in the league.

That was an entertaining game, the Sens hung with them pretty well. Nice to see them use their size more too.

1) Our PP is top 10.
2) He has kept the kid line together when all are in the lineup, so that comment is only partially correct.
3) He was bashed by players and fans here last year for juggling his lines too much within games. A criticism is only fair if there is a way for him to be right (aside from winning games, which makes him right in the minds of many fans regardless of decisions made).

He put Karlsson with Wiercioch in the third; seems like an adjustment designed to create more offense to me.

As for easily being able to tie up the game with a strategic move, perhaps it's a little harder scoring against the team with the lowest goals against in the league than you think. :shakehead

Yes, true. They ain't gonna score 3-4 PP goals in a game though.

I hate it ok

Haha, that's fine, but it's still a rubbish argument to say more PP's don't give us a chance to score a tying goal in that game. Who says we couldn't score 3? Clearly something was working.

The PP is so funny. It looks so ineffective for long stretches, then all of a sudden they get set up and score. There is obviously a ton of room for improvement.

I'd love to see them do away with using a high risk cross ice pass to try to set up a one timer from along the board, roughly level with the faceoff dot. It is a really low success play.

yes
My only problem with the PP is the inability to get shots on net from in closer. Seems like most shots are from right at the blue line or a no screen shot from a bad angle.

But the PP% is good, so I cant complain.
