Winnipeg plays the Avs and Arizona their final 2 games. It’s not a forgone conclusion the Blues will be playing the Preds in rd 1. If the Blues win their final 2, theres a good chance they’ll leap one of those 2, if not both.

Honestly, if I had to handicap it, I'd have the odds of us playing each team right around the same. I think we have a greater chance of playing either Dallas or Winnipeg than we go of playing Nashville. Even money, if the bet was "will the Blues play Nashville or the field" then I would bet on the field.

Tarasenko with 5 straight 30-30 seasons. It would be nice to see him scoring 40 again, but you can't argue with his consistency. You pretty much know what you're getting out of 91.

He gets criticism, sometimes deserved, but he really is a fantastic player and we're extremely fortunate to have him.

I choose to look at it this way: the Blues are going into the last day of the season with a chance to win the division. Before the season, that’s about where we hoped they would be. All 3 teams can point to a lost opportunity here and there. But when you tally it all, the Blues will be ahead if they beat Vancouver. Maybe only temporarily, but it’s still a nice place to be on the last day of the season.

And then you wipe all of that clear and just prepare for your match-up. There can’t be a hang-over of feeling good about what you just did. It’s over and done.

To add onto this, I think he would have hit 40 goals this year had not not been coming off shoulder surgery. It was pretty obvious that he wasn’t back to 100% in the first half. He exploded in the second half and you could see the difference.

He had a great February where it seemed like everything went in. Otherwise he was just ok most of restof year, before and after hot streak.

i really don't want the Jets first round, but i guess we'll have to beat them at some point to advance.

I guess avoiding them in the first round gives us a better chance of getting more playoff revenue and playoff experience for the guys that haven't been there or have had limited playoff experience.

And of course we'll get to see more of O'Reilly's beautiful beard.

In January, he had 10 points in 11 games. In March and April, he has had 12 points in 13 games. Altogether, he has had 44 points in 38 games since the New Year. That’s half his 75 games played. He’s been quite good for the whole second half of the season.

In December he had 2 points and was -11. He like many players runs hot and cold. He is obviously very good player, but the days of him scoring 40 goals are likely past.

He’s scored at a 46 goal pace in 2019. I wouldn’t bet against him scoring 40 again. Either way, 35+35 for 7.5M is a steal regardless if he hits 40 again or not.

Small samples. Players get hot. Steen is scoring at over 50 goal pace in April. I like Tank and there is absolutely real value in 30+ goal scorer but guy is hot for a couple of weeks and suddenly he’s a Brett Hull or Alex Ovechkin.

There seemed to be a distinct difference between 1st half Vladi and 2nd half Vladi. He openly told Strickland he didnt hurt anymore, so I'd happily bet he gets 40 again

Half a season is quite a bit more than a couple weeks. He’s one of the best goal scorers in the league. Only Ovi has more over the last five seasons. He’s a true superstar. Don’t downplay half a f***ing season as a”couple hot weeks”.

ROR is also easily the best center Tarasenko has ever played with. I think Vladi scoring 40 sometime in the next 4 years is pretty likely.

I tend to put more stock in the last 5 years of Tarasenko's career plus half of this season instead of December of 2018. And just so everyone knows, Tarasenko has only hit 40 goals once. He's more of a 35+ goal guy. Him hitting 40 is more of a milestone thing, just because it's a number that ends in a zero. He usually gets 35-40 goals. Last year was a down year and he "only" hit 33. This year, he has been on pace for ~35 again. For all we know, he could still hit it with a hat trick tomorrow night.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tarasenko flirts with that number that ends in a zero again.
