I'm just not one for gloating, especially when we haven't proven anything when it matters.

But I wouldn't ever tell someone else not to if they feel they should.

No one on HF is going to sway me to another team or make me believe that the Blues are in someway inferior.

Fortunately then for others on HFboards the Blues themselves are more than capable (gifted ya might say) of proving credence to the belief of that inferiority come April/May of just about every year.

What mentality is that?

I'm not ashamed of our team; far from it. I love our team. I think we have the best team in the NHL....I just don't feel the need to announce it to the world.

How'd that end up happening?

The fact that you cant take pride in that is what Im talking about. Maybe you're just a low key kind of guy but it seems most Blues fans have trouble handling a successful team that cant -- as of yet-- get to the promised land. We're, as a fan base jaded.

You know what Im getting at. Is this the best team they have ever had? IDK, must be at least tied. What I do know is that if this team is going anywhere Pietro and JBo are going to have to wake the **** up. This is my only real concern at this point.

Until they arent.

Got a friend (already stretching belief here, but let's roll with it) who's probably one of the unluckiest people I've ever met. A group of us used to play poker and it was mind boggling how horrendous his luck truly was. He even spent half a night one night basically letting us play his cards for him and it was stunning. He went eight hands in a row without even getting a pair. Went to a casino one night, he went to the roulette table and they hit 00 for three spins in a row.
We told him to quit putting money on the board and things returned to normal.
Now here's the kicker, dude's a mathematician for a really big insurance company. He can actually count cards when he wants and figure out probability on the fly. He's as prepared as a guy can possibly be but it just doesn't seem to matter.

That's the Blues. They're cursed to always come up short every time.

I love 'em with as much of my charred, blackened heart as possible, but I recognize that if I had to rely on them winning the cup for me to live, I'd need to make sure the will is airtight and the life insurance is paid up.

But go ahead, knock yourself out. Sharks fans had to learn the hard way in the 2000's after the Blues ceded them their "playoff disappointment" label. No reason we shouldn't take our rightful place once again.

Kinda funny all preseason predictions had our defense as top 3 and our forward group being good but questionable.

Now I think we might have the best forward group....so overwhelming when healthy. But that might be homer goggles. Now the defense is questionable

Jaskin is really starting to find his game. The Blues are actually starting to remind me of great teams in that when they bring up young guys to a great team, they perform. Like the Cards always seem to do.

Im going to start a thread on the SOB line on the main board. Since so many of you are embarassed by Blues threads on that board I'd like to get your input on how I should put it together so it doesnt offend any of you guys.

What's the point?

You'll get rival team fans pooping on the Blues players, and defensive Blues fans trying to defend it. Those types of threads started by homer fans always look desperate for validation.

When the line plays well enough for a rival fan to be impressed enough to start that thread (and defend it) then it belongs on the main board.

But do whatever you want.

Well, so far its been fine. No BS. Actually the thread is falling down the page like the failing hopes of Blues fans.

I just dont get this. What is the point of being a fan of a great team if you cant enjoy and take part in it even at the smallest degree?

I dont understand why people dont just say "F it" and say what they want. Seems cowardly and out of place. How are the Blues supposed to win when no one actually has any faith in them and are almost embarrassed when they are supposed to do well?

Have some faith. They will win one eventually. Maybe we will all be dead, but whats the ****ing point of constant disbelief?

Very good win, Dmitri Jaskins growth as a player is going to be fun to watch he may become a top tier Power Forward and those are hard to come by. The only thing is they still seem to always have little lulls or drops in play every game and those have to be gone by playoff time

You're assigning all kinds of opinions and emotions to me here.

Why do you think I'm not enjoying the Blues season?

Why do you think I'm not saying what I want to?

I think this year might finally be their year, and I'm optimistic about the postseason. I just don't get any enjoyment from quibbling with ignorant posters on the main boards. Either the Blues will win or they won't. Trying to get someone in Ottawa to agree that they're good this year is pretty low on my list of things to do.

And fan bases in general get taken less seriously in other threads when there is a reputation for being immature. For example, a few Toronto fans boisterously overvalue their players on the trade board to the point that everyone is reluctant to discuss trade proposals with Toronto.

Blues fans have historically had a good reputation on the main board for being savvy, courteous and less biased. Our hockey knowledge (in general) is respected. But as the fan base here has grown, that reputation has deteriorated the last couple seasons. I find that mildly disappointing, and I think that's why you see pushback occasionally when other posters also notice the loss of respect.

I'd prefer if we don't come off like a bunch of kids telling 'Yo Mama' jokes about other teams, but it's probably inevitable and not really a big deal. I'm only explaining my perspective because you asked.

Very well said. Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

It all comes with having a more successful team than in the past. As you said, it's inevitable.
