Good call on Markakis DJQ, would be a fantastic fit now and next year if we're going to lose both Bautista and Saunders.

I'm not sure about that yet. That or we have a trio of aces right now :)

The funny thing is, everyone figured Stroman would be the ace coming in. I'm not knocking Stroman, but he's had an inconsistent season so far.

Game #1 of the playoffs there would be a strong debate of three different starting pitchers to use and Stroman is not in that debate,

Ha, I remember arguing in these threads about how Sanchez will be our ace and everyone was saying Stroman. Boy, if he gets it together though.

Funny how everyone, including myself, said at least one of Happ or Estrada will take a huge step back.

DJQ, that was hilarious. Although I think that most hilarious part of looking back, is the writing in of Chavez as a starter....

Forgive me if this is a dumb question and I realize there is no way to prove it but would Happ be enjoying the same success if he was at the top of the rotation?

Well at the time we didn't know Sanchez was going to have such a great season in the rotation.

What differencedoes it make? It's not like there is a rule that forces teams to match up starting pitchers by depth chart rankings. ..

I think I survived the Happ topic but no one bring up any of the Michael Saunders discussions

The only difference it would make would be at the very beginning of the season before off days/injuries/resting starters. Theoretically you have your 1-2-3-4-5 start the season in order but as for your question, the difference would be minuscule or slim to none.

Thanks, that's what I was getting at. Makes sense, as the season goes along the #1 vs #1 match ups are less frequent.

Urena is having as good or better a season at the plate than Yoan Moncada, aka best prospect in baseball, is a year younger and has much more defensive value.

Then trade him to the Sox if you want him rated higher.

Devon Travis:

122 career MLB games:

32 doubles, 18 HRs, 69 RBIs, .305 Av, 850 OPS

In one season that alone would be the stats of a ROY. Over 162 games it would be:

42 2b, 24 HRs, 92 RBIs

It is more impressive that he has carried this hitting across two injury-hampered seasons where there are now full scouting reports on the player across the AL.

Wallace to Gose to Travis. Whellin' and Dealin' finally led to a legitimate piece.

You can even go back one further to Michael Taylor who was originally acquired in the Halladay deal and then flipped for Wallace.

Taylor->Wallace->Gose->Travis

Interesting is that's a legit upgrade with every single move.

K....

(DJQ whispers to the rest of the thread)

Should I tell him that Moncada has the higher wOBA and wRC+ or just let him go?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll give it a pass. His main point is certain teams prospects are overrated or underrated because of the market and I agree with that. At least that was what I think his point was.
