Something has to be done about Gaudreau. He's not living up to billing or paycheck.

I've never seen him play this poorly - here or in Calgary.

And I certainly wouldn't have guessed he'd be the new whipping boy on these boards. But he deserves to be right now.

I think he’s trying to play more experienced guys even if they don’t produce as much

Agreed but he has never in his career done this. Something is off.

I don't think there's a disciplinary type solution for Gaudreau. Nor would I try and play him 20 a night to get him out of it. For whatever reason he's gotten steadily worse in the last 5 or so games.

I'd just play him 3rd line minutes and 2nd PP minutes until he shows that he's back. We don't benefit from changing things drastically all the time and it's distracting for the team to put much focus on Gaudreau right now. Just dial back his role and leave him be until he's back.

Edit: @cbjthrowaway should finally see their dream of Gaudreau and Sillinger together. Though that would be a weak line the way they're playing right now.

Gaudreau is sending a wrong message with his play right now. Soft, lazy, turnovers, no creativity.

Right now they are playing like a frustrating young team, lot of bad followed by lot of good. End up losing the games they should win

I wonder if they had Peeke offers they turned down and now regret so holding out hope they get something. He wouldnt be claimed if sent down though. Boqvist however cannot be lost for nothing. I know people complain hes a PP specialist but thats not exactly a terrible thing. Thats more on the coaching staff being too stupid to play players to their strengths

I'm honestly not sure if there's much trade value left for Boqvist either.

Its either incompetence or someone setting them up to fail to grab another top draft pick.
2nd Line is the best line and they can't get ice time.

I know but they cant risk sending him down for nothing. He'd be claimed and I think can provide value in a proper role. A 3rd pair PP specialist isnt what Chicago or Columbus envisioned but it might just be what he is. Playing him with Peeke on his off side with no PP time is just setting a player up to fail. They could atleast play him in a proper role to show some value to the league and keep Jiricek down. Should have been that way from the start

I'd be fine with trying Boqvist on the right side, perhaps next to Provorov. But he might only be worth like a 2nd or 3rd so I don't care about it much as far as asset value goes.
