I don't hate this. Losing Lindberg sucks, and the 2nd represents a cheap asset on an ELC at some point down the line. But gaining an NHL-quality defenceman at the expense of a depth winger, a healthy scratch defenceman, a tweener winger and a prospect? Yeah, I'll take that action.

I liked Lindberg quite a bit and the 2nd rounder stings.

But the dead contracts balance it out a bit.

No more worrying about Karlsson's gaffes. Phaneuf will have more than his fair share to take attention away from EK.

Still, he can log a lot of minutes and hopefully he plays on the 2nd pairing.
