That's me in the corner
He was just pointing out that Rocky has plausible deniability, unless there's actual evidence/physical proof of his knowledge, and his complicity in covering it up. He didn't say whether he agreed with it or not. He just stated a fact.

Sure, you and he are probably right. Unfortunately.

I guessing this will not make it to court. No testimony. Payments to the plaintiffs with the stipulation that nothing is disclosed.

Good chance Rocky was told face to face in a meeting with their management, but that would be here say. Unless an email went around, which I highly doubt, he can deny any involvement with it, fire who ever the NHL wants him to, and keep on keeping on.

As of now this is simply accusation without proof

Saying "This person clearly knew ban them for life and arrest them" is absurd

Wait until investigation (Or in this case civil court case) and evidence comes forward before damning people as "In on a cover up" and potentially ruining lives of innocent people

If there is evidence to support claim it will come to light

Yes, it's unfortunate that people are innocent until proven guilty...

It's the way things work. You can't punish someone for doing something wrong, with no evidence of wrongdoing. This is what had a ton of people looking like morons when they immediately freaked out, and started accusing Kane of shit before any evidence came out. The court of public opinion is f***ing awful, and can ruin people. Innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent, my friend.

It kind of does. I know if something happened at my work, and my owner told me not to say anything or else he'll fire me. I ain't saying shit (unless I have a damn good back up plan). I have kids to feed.
Look at it this way….if it was found out you were blackmailed by your boss in order to cover up a sexual assault, all you have to do is prove it (secretly record any conversations) sue the multi million $$ organization, and your kids will have more food then they know what to do with if you catch my drift.

By the way if I was asked to help cover up a sexual assault I would be morally obliged to tell someone who could intervene. Even if just anonymously. But no way in hell I would keep it to myself regardless of the consequences. Karma is real my friend

If I could do it anonymously, absolutely. If he knew I was the only one that knew? It would be a tough situation to be in, and I would probably value my kids eating, more than my morals.

That's the U.S. criminal justice system, that has nothing to do with fans being disgusted by their favorite team's owners and executives.

There's no criminal investigation here.

Hawks are still innocent in a civil court setting as well

Burden of proof may not be as high but Hawks and anyone sued in a civil court are still deemed innocent until shown guilty or majority liable for claim

And yes people should not condemn everyone and anyone without evidence to support it.. Claiming someone covered up sex abuse is something that you better damn well have evidence to support

Is it possible to both agree and disagree here......I think that we should not rush to judgment, but at the same time, we should all prepare ourselves for the worst case scenario. What happened to Kane is the exception, not the rule. The overwhelming majority of the time when allegations of sexual abuse/misconduct are made there is truth to them.

That being said, we should learn from what happened with Kane.

The same premise applies in civil court, just with a lesser burden of proof. Again, the court of public opinion is f***ing awful. Also... with Kane it was a civil suit as well, not a criminal one, IIRC. Which is why it eventually got tagged for what it was, a money grab.

This hasn't been a discussion of the allegations being true or not. I'm of the belief that they are, as there is information that helps me come to that conclusion(like him being convicted in Michigan with the minor). That doesn't mean I crucify the entire organization, and everyone in it, top to bottom, before any evidence tells me I should.

Case in point, OJ Simpson was acquitted of double homicide but he remains guilty of that particular crime in the court of public opinion to this day, his other crimes since notwithstanding.

That's 100% fair and I'm in agreement here.

If the evidence comes out that there was a coverup, then by all means they should be severely punished.

BTW, isn't Al MacIsaac no longer with the Blackhawks?

Another thing......isn't it possible that the suit gets dismissed because of the statute of limitations?

If the person swore out a statement saying that "I told Rocky on such and such a date that we have a problem regarding a sexual assault case', that is not hearsay.

Its not proof either that statement is truthful

Again I will wait for actual evidence to come forth via a civil trial before damning every member of management or anyone else

It's kind of time is it not that the whole sexual abuse thing comes out into the light?
It's been going on for thousands of years more or less and really, individual guys who get caught here and there are only the tip of the iceberg. They're just acting out their own abuse. The "sins of the fathers" ... as it goes.
I mean when you look at it ... the first two chakras ( which are the gateway to the higher ones ) when compromised keep the being from actualizing their potential. At any rate this is just another of practically millions of small cases that come to light or don't.
It's not tivial .. don't get me wrong but it is a much bigger thing when you look at the whole planet, sex slaves, child pornography etc etc etc.

Also I imagine at some point soon player identity will need to be entered into court public documents

Remember with various other civil cases including Watson ongoing cases judge ruled identity of accuser (Or accusers) must be made known

As of now this has been a story of players attorney releasing information/accusations to media. So we shall see what occurs when the case actually starts to move thru courts and Hawks take own steps in court with regard to case

No, Kane was investigated but never charged. It was a situation where they were able to get physical and forensic evidence relatively quickly. It was not a he said/she said. Based on the evidence, including a rape kit no charges were laid. It was, however, a criminal investigation.

Regardless of who knew what, this is a major black eye for the organization. Right now we don't know who in the organization knew what. I'd be willing to bet that McDonough knew. You'd be hard pressed to convince me Rocky didn't know, too. I'm not sure we will ever know the full extent of the cover-up, as statute of limitations kicks in, and this likely never makes it to court.

f***ing terrible all around. But look at all the people that knew about "Chico", and did nothing. That cover-up goes all the way to the top of USA Hockey.... Disgusting, but not surprising at all.

It’s not hearsay if the person who told him tells the court he told him.
McDonny states that on or about I met with Rocky and we discussed it.
The MacIssac says that on or about Stan and I discussed it with Rocky in a conference call.
I can see the lower rungs giving such info to decrease their liability. Can claim the next level up person said they would take care of it.
