10/11 AHL Top Scorers
#1 Locke - played on DEL champs 4th line, now no contract
#2 Giroux - entering his 2nd season in europe
#3 Krog - entering his 3rd season in the SEL (83 pts in 105 games)
#4 Haydar - still in the AHL
#5 Dawes - entering his 3rd season in europe

09/10 AHL Top Scorers
Desharnais as #5 went on to really get better, Aucoin now plays on the Isles Bottom6 the other 3 never made it in the NHL

Same time Top5 in Sweden - 2 guys made it to the NHL with 1 being still damn young and highly talented with Rundblad

Lighting up the AHL means little too, don't you think?

Weinhandl had health problems and turned down NHL offers for KHL money
Lundqvist played in the NHL long enough and NEVER was considered a scorer
Nilssons offense is good and better than about 40%+ of current NHL forwards

thanks for proving you know little to nothing about them and european hockey - again

good hands roof that? Show me some prove about that. There was little to no chance to roof that.

not to mention that when he finally was in the O zone, it was the end of his shifts and a time when you take a shot to get the chance because the goalie is going to freeze it. This was often the case with Frolik and Krüger.

looks like you are a bad coach or just a liar that never coached at that level.

you also haven't seen Krüger in the SEL... he never was that dangler and shooter. He has a high hockey IQ and good passing skills, good hands. Hard worker that will get rewarded.

I really like that some assume that the Krüger that wasn't good 11/12 as #2 C is still the player he was back then... when he was a rookie, in a new country adopting to the smaller rink and NA.

Lighting up the AHL at a young age was my argument. Posting the stats of a bunch of AAAA players doesn't really counter that.

And It's just a theory. I'd need to look into the numbers, but Brett Sterling is the only youte in recent memory to post monster numbers and not have it carry over, and that was with two of the best AHL veterans in the leagues history feeding him.

He's not being asked to do much offensively. He has fourth line duties. Kruger has hands, good board play, tough, good around the net, and good vision. He hasn't maxed out. You can't limit him to the fourth line yet.

Are you kidding me????!!!! Kruger's board play typically consists of a few pokes at the puck, and then getting knocked down onto his knees or arse. It easily is the one area that frustrates me most about his play. And unfortunately, he was only marginally better this year than last in this regard. His lower body/core strength has to be comparatively much less than his NHL peers.

As to the rest of your statement, I haven't seen that good vision or hands, where he makes plays and passes that blow me away within the flow of the game. Almost never. He seems ok around the net because that's the only place he can score (credit due for him recognizing this fact), given his NHL minus shot. For a "defensive specialist", his faceoff win percent just sucks. And for those that point to his defensive zone starts and ability to get the puck out of the D-zone, I think any one of our lines would be able to do the same. Sooner or later the puck will leave the zone in a 30-45 second shift. He is definitely commited to the defensive aspect of the game, and positionally and tactically is sound.

Back to the thread topic, he's getting paid what he deserves for the term that he deserves. Any more or longer and I would have been p/o'd. He's a fourth liner, center or winger, who's paid for his pk/defensive role. My guess is that he will be replaced if that's all he brings to the Hawks over the next year or two. If he "breaks out" offensively (and I've not seen any indication in his play that he has the skillset to do so), then he'll be retained. Otherwise, there are too many possibilities in the farm system and via free agency to justify keeping him around beyond those two years.

Obviously, at the end of the day, Bickell is overpaid. But that's what the markets like and Bickell could have gotten more money elsewhere.

If Bickell could have gotten more money elsewhere, he can't be "overpaid". By definition, "overpaid" means that he got more than he could have gotten elsewhere, and more than he had to be paid to guarantee a signing.

You might not like the contract, and you might think it's more than you would have paid, but he's not overpaid if he signed for less than his fair market value.

pvr does not fail to show up and bash Krüger

Stats
5 vs 5

34 forwards (with 30+ games playes) had LESS than 40% in the off. Zone started
out of those 34 guys, only Zac Rinaldo ended his shift more in the offensiv zone than Marcus Krüger.

On 5vs5, Krügers FO % was HIGHER than 50% in the RS. Krügers bad percantage comes from the PK when he takes the draws against guys like Koivu, Thonton, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Getzlaf, Richards, Kopitar and those other 1st/2nd Line Centers that are among the league elite...

speaking about Quality of Competition... only Bickell/Stalberg/Shaw faced weaker competition on the Hawks. I wonder why MM doesn't say anything about Shaw... he got PP time, more ES time playing with the greatest of all time named Stalberg and ended with only 2 points more than Krüger.
I like Shaw and don't want to compare him to Krüger or say one is better than the other. Both are good and add strenghts to our team.

1. Nobody has a campaign pushing for Shaw to play on a line over his head.

2. Nobody posted some stupid quote that Kruger was better at 20, or some such age, than Zetterberg.

3. I don't dislike the kid. He understands his role an dis willing to get his nose dirty, no problem by me. Problem by me is the ridiculous projections that usually begin and end with IF. Would I like him to become what some dream of? Of course, but when I ask for evidence or support for why that might happen, there is none. Again, show me a couple of those offensive plays where Kruger created the play. It's all I've been asking for.

Look Bubba, there have been posters here that have called out against Kruger in this thread 5 or more times, just here. I post once, and you have the temerity to point out my post?! You posted on this thread three times in his favor. And in this thread, you posted a remarkable 15 times out of 265 posts (over 17% of all posts) regarding Kruger (me not once). Pot meet kettle.

I'll make you a deal. You can put me on ignore, and you won't have to read what I write, all of 825 posts in 5.5 years of being on the board. In return I will put you on ignore, and I won't have to read your 21,228 posts (!) in 3.75 years on board, likely over 1000 of which are solely directed towards your infatuation with a fourth line player with mediocre NHL talent who you used to tout (and occasionaly still do) for second line duty, and talk up every chance you get. If anything, it's the duty of people like me to provide a counterpoint to your ramblings on everything Kruger.

As an added bonus, I wont' have to see Homer Simpson's dancing belly defacing the Blackhawks crest. Deal?

No. By definition, "overpaid" means he got too much for what his value actually is/was. Bickell's never scored 20 goals in the NHL and he's notoriously struggled with consistency over his career. He is in no way worth 4M per year, even with factoring in his playoff success. The market drove his value, but that doesn't mean the market is right. Being a UFA drove his contract numbers up, if he were an RFA, he would have gotten what he was actually worth.

God I wish someone would just take a on Raffi and put him out of the game for a while. The guy is a thug and deserves to see it from the other side.
