Hopefully 1.4-1.6M AAV for him ,,, Anything higher and Hawks might have to make another move

Probably end of Hawks offseason (Barring a minor trade or something)

The Chicago Blackhawks locked in another important piece of their roster puzzle when they agreed to terms with center Marcus Kruger on a two-year contract Friday.

The restricted free agent had four goals and nine assists in 47 regular-season games and added three goals and two assists in the Hawks' 23-game run to the Stanley Cup championship. The 23-year-old Kruger also played a big role on the Hawks' penalty-killing unit, which was among the best in the NHL all season. He led team forwards and ranked second overall with an average of 2 mimutes, 30 seconds of short-handed ice time per game.

It'll obviously be under 2M.

Going to bet something like:

2013-14: 1.5M
2014-15: 2M
Total: 3.5M (1.75M caphit)

23yrs old and stuck on the fourth line for eternity in this team...is he really happy with that? i'd get my ass out of that situation asap and go to a team where i'd get a bigger role

Where is he getting a larger role? He is a 3rd liner at best. So he is going to leave a winning team to go play on the 3rd line for some crappy team at fractionally better pay?

The difference between a 4th liner and 3rd liner is about 8 minutes of ES play. That's roughly 10-12 more shifts per game. Pretty big difference.

Kruger's role on this team isn't carved into stone. He won't necessarily be stuck on the 4th line next year.

I can still see him developing a more offensive role down the line. I don't think he's forever going to be strictly a PK/4th line type guy. I see shades of Filppula, I'm not saying he'll reach that high of offensive production, but everyone seems to think he's reached his peak in terms of offensive output. I'm not as convinced.

Maybe 8 minutes for the whole line combined, not each player. Kruger was only getting 30 seconds less per game than Stalberg was getting.

2012-13 ES Time

Saad - 14.04
Toews - 15.14
Hossa - 14.00

Sharp - 14.50
Bolland - 12.58 [Handzus - 10.17]
Kane - 17.05

Bickell - 12.30
Shaw - 12.55
Stalberg -11.52

Bollig - 7.54
Kruger - 11.22
Frolik - 9.54

Kruger does play a prominent role on the team, it is simply not an offensive one. He gets trusted with a lot of difficult minutes on the PK or in the defensive zone. It is no accident that he was on the ice with a minute left in a tied game 6 of the stanley cup finals.

Are you happy with how he has developed? He's not scoring a big bunch but seems to thrive on the PK.

:handclap: I knew it was probably just a matter of time but very happy he'll be back. I still think he has a little room to improve offensively and he's a stalwart defensively. If he can improve his FO% (he was only 46% at the dot last season) by just 5-6% to be over 50% and score an extra 5-8 points a year (scored 26 his first year, and was on pace for that again last year) I'd be very very with his production given how great of a defender he is.

If it isn't I'm mad. If I was GM it would be 1.2.

You mean you'd try to sign him for $1.2?

You do understand that he can choose to not accept your offer?

Someone could give him an offer sheet at $1.68M and only give up a 3rd.
