So if he could have been buried for free, is this a move to free up a roster spot?

Or... is this a sign that the Blackhawks are going back to the dark ages and will be penny pinchers on spending?

KD is definitely planning to take on some bad contracts for picks. Gotta clear space.

Who knows, maybe this is to free up a spot for a JvR trade.

Not sure about penny pinching but if they have no need for him might as well save $733k in cash

doesnt make any sense at all unless u guys are at max contracts and needed to shred one. but then again he could have been included in a trade.
just dont understand why this was needed. injuries happen why not give him a chance until you NEED to clear one of your 50 contract slots.
could send him down through waivers and not have any dead cap too. (unless he's still exempt which in that case just demote him and call up if needed)

Borgstrom was a terrible hockey player and simply was wasting roster spot in either Chicago or Rockford. Moving on from that bum is a great thing and team saves money on this with a small cap hit for next 2 years

Connolly was awful hockey player and again wasted a roster spot in either Chicago or Rockford this year. Most fans expected him to be bought out well before the moves of last week, so this isn't shocking

Now kids can play in those spots or Hawks could add a bad contract or two for a year or two for assets

Only Stillman remains of that pathetic trade with Panthers and as a guy who isn't fond of Stillman, I wouldn't be upset to see him sent packing in trade

So, the plan is getting rid of everyone?
also the plan; to lose every game in the regular season?

Oh, forgot Kubalik...
Sorry if I misinterpreted your post, but the story yesterday is that Kubalik isn't being qualified either.

I was thinking they might offer to terminate HB's'contract since from my perspective he obviously didn't fit in the Hawks plans, but buying him out is a little less aggressive and lets him see if he can jump start his career somewhere else probably in Europe.

Of course they'd offer to terminate his contract. Why would Borgstrom walk away from a million dollars?

Because they told him he wouldn't be getting any ice time either at the NHL or AHL level so next year it would be like he didn't exist in the hockey world.
