I saw that. that's not only cool, but kinda hard to believe. I mean, pizza is pizza. not exactly rocket science. what aren't all the other cities doing?

so, any of the top 10 pizza shops in our town, ostensibly, make some of the best pizza in the world!! (Versato's, Rose Bowl, Funky Pickle!!)

yeah us. (and Eakins wouldn't let the boys have Friday nite pizza!!)

Monty's in Lewis Estates, right by River Cree casino. Hands down best I've ever had.

Joey McMoss recommendation - The Mexican

Rose bowl pizza is fire.

Typically we go to Famoso alot - Margherita w/ Cherry Tomatoes is extremely gratifying.

Tony's Pizza Palace is satisfying but the area/location is shady AF. Still worth a visit.

For the chains, a vocal fan of Papa John's. Panago is above average as well. Boston Pizza is superb.

Can tolerate Pizza 73/Dominos but only reluctantly. Shudders.

(Funky Pickle!!)

Funny you mention this.

Was never a fan of this when it opened in early 2000's - but the masses loved it, and at one point there were 6-7 locations. The masses also sharply turned their back on the product, and it was a 5 year fad.

Today there is only 1 location remaining.

The entire premise of funky pickle was creating juvenile/silly pizza combinations and expected the market to change its behavior for the long term. The market is what the market is. You cannot outsmart the market.

You just can't.

That article is hilarious. Hard to believe. Thin crust stuff fresh from the stone ovens in Rome or Sicily... that's my kind of pizza.

Have no idea what pizza could be considered the best in Edmonton, all I can say is RIP Papadopolous Pizza on 119th and 40th Ave. They were the best.

It's like you've read my mind!

Famoso as the go to. I worked there for over 5 years and never got sick of the food. Siciliana or Cavoletti for days!! In terms of chains, Papa John's is great, especially on Mondays or days you can get 50% off. Panago is also up there in that category.

Forgot to mention Packrat Louie. Marvelous pizza - especially love their lemon pizza.

But yeah, would agree in general, the thin crust is the desired outcome.

Keep the suggestions coming - would love to try some newer places of this universally acclaimed staple food.

If you ever find yourself in Calgary, hit up Una Pizza or Cibo which are both on 17th Ave. Without Papers in Inglewood is fantastic too.

Chicago Deep Dish is my favourite late night pizza haunt in the Whyte Ave area. Not certain I have ever consumed it while sober, but I'd give it a gold star anyways.

There's that new LOVEPIZZA place downtown on 109th and Jasper I hear is pretty good.

Have to go out and try some new places, but I love me my Famosos. Also have heard great things of Bucco Pizzaria in St. Albert

This man knows what's up. Papadopolous $5 Pepperoni pizzas were a godsend when I was going to Vernon Barford for junior high.

I now live in Ontario and when I tell people out here that Edmonton has better pizza they sort of laugh at me. Not sure why. But when I do go to Edmonton, and that is often, pizza is one of the great treats!

By the way does anyone remember the old Franklin's chain? One restaurant on 111 ave was where I would typically go. The other one I ate at was by the MacDonald Hotel. That was great pizza! I read somewhere a rumor that the chain was still alive in Sherwood Park.

It definitely gets a gold star while sober. Or did a few years ago.

Famoso is fantastic. One of the few places that are allowed to say authentic. I worked there for a few shifts. Then I took a job at EB Games instead. Way cooler student job. Hahah

This is kinda what I was thinking. I mean there's a lot that goes into it, but it was just shocking that we were so high.

Also they name Famosa, is that really only in Edmonton? With the amount of them around I'd assume they were a large chain.

There was a Franklins in the hotel by the mall in Sherwood Park, but I thought it became a Sawmill or something. I could be wrong. It was pretty good years back when I had it.

On a side note we are also 4th for Canadian Cities on UFO sightings. Overall not a bad day
