Rarely but in the case of Dawn of the Dead I do. I like Romero but I didn't think Dawn of the Dead was anything special for him. I LOVE the remake, I thought it balanced comedy, horror and action so well, while still having legitimate heart. You prefer the remakes to the originals?

I haven't seen the short that Gilliam's version was based on.

How could I forget Stalker? It's been too long. Think I'll watch it again tonight.I second those, pure gems. I'd had:
La jetée (Marker, 1962)
Melancholia (Von Trier, 2011)
Dawn of the Dead (Romero, 1978)
Delicatessen (Caro & Jeunet, 1991)
Stalker (Tarkovsky, 1979)
Waterworld
The Postman

OkI stopped watching apocalyptic films after 9/11. I saw NYC collapse in real life, no interest in seeing it on film whatsoever. And now the world feels like an apocalyptic movie.
