Yea cap crunch talk is almost always overblown. Like there are very few instances in the NHL where a team can't make a smart move when they need to no matter where they are against the cap.

You shouldn't have been. Goaltenders don't have much value unless they are established #1 types or projects as such. When you add a relatively large contract and very inconsistent performance, that value disappears.
