I'd switch Chlapik and Norris, but in general I really like these lines. Defense does need to be addressed.
Chlapik has more experience in the AHL than a rookie like Norris but I eventually expect Norris to pass him. They can't have Mann embarrass PD given they kept Chlapik up in Ottawa to start the season than place him on a line behind a rookie like Norris who was sent down much earlier. Lots of intangibles around the politics within sports teams & public perception.
On another note: I wonder if Paul suffers from the same kind of problem that people have said about Duclair & Ceci in the past. I have played with guys that just never seem to be able to read plays quickly enough & react just a second slower to what is happening around them. There have been lots of examples of these guys & still are.
You know those guys like Ceci was perceived to be here, if he would have just moved the puck a second faster he wouldn't be stuck in his own end for another 30 seconds. If the player would have made the pass a second earlier he could have sent his teammate in alone on net but instead because he hesitated his teammate had to wait that extra second to receive the pass which of course gives the defence another second to catch up & the play is nullified.
Those guys that look really good in the AHL, but just can't quite increase their ability to read plays & react to plays a second faster as required in a better league like the NHL, that could be Paul's problem. He plays on the top line in Belleville but has yet to make the 4th line in Ottawa, there has to be a reason & IMO could be his inability to think faster & react quicker in the NHL & that could take more time or it may never happen. We hear all the time that everything in the NHL is a second or two faster than the AHL & players have to learn to adapt to not just the speed of the game but the speed by which they make decisions & react appropriately quicker. The better ones do & the others who do not become career minor leaguers.
