Labrie has no idea what to do in the defensive zone and Toronto get an easy one with only a few minutes left.

Waaaaiiiittt a second...Labrie is not a defensive specialist? His AHL career high in points is 11. What does he do that is pro quality besides having a pulse then?

the sens along with many other teams have shown again and again that they love players who really aren't very good

Need to swap forwards for defenseman asap. At least two of Swarz, Carcone, Rodewald, Klimchuk, Labate, Sturz, and Beaudin need to be moved for defenseman or released.

Horribly unbalanced team. Veronneau played part of the season in the AHL last year and now he’s on the extras line in a lower league?

I don't like that lineup either, the top line played really well to end the yr last season so they should again be their top line. Formenton is one of the fastest guys in the NHL & has the size to easily play on a 2nd line in the AHL, Chalpik played there for the last two yrs & has done well & Veronneau played there last yr as well as in the NHL & played well enough to play on a 2nd line in the AHL on this team. The 3rd line is where Kelly & Norris can learn the pro game & with Davidsson who is suppose to be a sniper & played in Europe last yr, this could also be a good line. Then form a 4th line from the remaining players that could play more minutes when needed on any given night & the extra vets could sub in for a prospect when they have a tough night. Send Stutz to Brampton & release Klimchuk. That defence could use some help, goaltending should be a strength in Belleville this yr.

Paul - Brown - Batherson
Formenton - Chlapik - Veronneau
Kelly - Norris - Davidsson
Carcone - Szwarz - Rodewald
Labate/Beaudin

I'd switch Chlapik and Norris, but in general I really like these lines. Defense does need to be addressed.

Good interview with Mann again. I like his straight forward style. It's refreshing in this organization.

He touches on roster management with all the extra forward bodies; has discussed with Sr. Management. He also talks about a further depleted D corps .. losing another one that was thought to be in the lineup.. He expected Brannstrom, Goloubef and Ebert to be there ,,, life in the AHL.

I thought Veronneau had a great game 1. Looks like he's getting the Chlapik treatment. Punishment for good performance. Looks like a trickle down effect.

I'd switch Chlapik and Norris, but in general I really like these lines. Defense does need to be addressed.

Chlapik has more experience in the AHL than a rookie like Norris but I eventually expect Norris to pass him. They can't have Mann embarrass PD given they kept Chlapik up in Ottawa to start the season than place him on a line behind a rookie like Norris who was sent down much earlier. Lots of intangibles around the politics within sports teams & public perception.

On another note: I wonder if Paul suffers from the same kind of problem that people have said about Duclair & Ceci in the past. I have played with guys that just never seem to be able to read plays quickly enough & react just a second slower to what is happening around them. There have been lots of examples of these guys & still are.

You know those guys like Ceci was perceived to be here, if he would have just moved the puck a second faster he wouldn't be stuck in his own end for another 30 seconds. If the player would have made the pass a second earlier he could have sent his teammate in alone on net but instead because he hesitated his teammate had to wait that extra second to receive the pass which of course gives the defence another second to catch up & the play is nullified.

Those guys that look really good in the AHL, but just can't quite increase their ability to read plays & react to plays a second faster as required in a better league like the NHL, that could be Paul's problem. He plays on the top line in Belleville but has yet to make the 4th line in Ottawa, there has to be a reason & IMO could be his inability to think faster & react quicker in the NHL & that could take more time or it may never happen. We hear all the time that everything in the NHL is a second or two faster than the AHL & players have to learn to adapt to not just the speed of the game but the speed by which they make decisions & react appropriately quicker. The better ones do & the others who do not become career minor leaguers.

would be a disaster if they miss the playoffs. obviously early but hopefully they put it together sooner rather than later.

I though the farm team was supposed to be a juggernaut with all the blue chip prospects the club has

Really not a good look for a group of forwards which many think could jump into an NHL top-six. Obviously, you should be winning more times than you lose if you outshoot a team 38-21, but the forwards have been out to lunch.

Not sure I agree. PK killed them against the Marlies, and tonight Cormier was good for the Devils, Hogberg was good too for Belleville. These posts are a little too reactionary. There are things to work on for sure such as special teams and I have my concerns about that blueline, Murray and Englund being your second pair is scary. With that said, there's zero concern about the forward group. They carried the play tonight and every line generated good looks. A 4th line of Klimchuk-Norris-Davidsson is very good for that level. This forward group is good.

I like what they did, rotating Norris and Davidsson on the right wall for PP2. Creates a different look with one being a left shot and the other a right shot and it gives both players the opportunity and if one thing is clear after two games with those two it is that they are quite skilled. Both are speedy players with good offensive IQ and have created chances out of nothing.
