It's wild to me that the same situations occur over and over and yet people never really do learn. How many times now have we had a Nick Paul in our organization that fans felt they knew better than the organization about?
Nick Paul will play in the NHL, on another team. But he won't play 1000 games, like the vast majority of NHL players because there's always someone younger, cheaper, healthier, faster, better, whatever ready to take your job. That's the story for marginal NHL players like Chiasson, Paul, Pyatt, Wiercioch, Greening... all have been decent at one point but with a limited shelf life. Health plays a major role there (ex : Cowen)
Secondly, very hard to evaluate D-men and defensive forwards under Boucher, because his teams are terrible defensively and are a puck possession nightmare. Interesting when they activate offensively but otherwise, very complicated for nothing.
The only thing the team seems to be doing right is get high danger chances and score goals. But they find way to lose because they can't keep the other team from scoring. When your shutdown forward is Pyatt (not NHL material anymore) and Ceci is your shutdown D-man (was never supposed to be shutdown), of course things will go wrong.
