NHL refs are so petty and incompetent they respond to criticism by doing an even worse job against you.

It's absolutely jarring how poor the officiating's been on penalty calls this year. The amount of power players almost feels like a league edict at some points, just slows things down to artificially inflate goal numbers.

Devils deserve some of the calls against them this year (especially that stretch of too many men penalties they kept getting), but the inconsistency this year has been way too noticeable.
