There's the situation, gentlemen. Who do you bring back, who do you let walk? Who do you bring in? Any buyouts?

Let's hear it.

why? what if they added Hall or Ebs?

Because despite having 2 bad games, Letang is top 10 dman in the league and you don't just trade those for a guy who will more than likely never reach that level and a prospect who might not pan out.

The only reason we should trade Letang is if he wants to leave or he's asking for too much. We are a MUCH worse team without him, like ridiculously so.

So if he wanted out/too much, then yes, I would do it if it was Schultz + 1st + one of Yakupov/Eberle

They won't trade Hall.

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,224,167; BONUSES: $307,500
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,383,333

That would be my ideal roster heading into next season. The salaries may be a little low, but there is still some wiggle room in the cap. Stalberg is exactly the kind of player that we need in the bottom 6. I don't know what kind of money he will be after, but he was benched in the 2nd round and is now playing better. He is big and physical, but also has a scoring touch. I remember watching him score over 30 goals with Frölunda awhile back, so he knows how to score.

The chart in the OP is wrong. Malkin, Letang, Kunitz, Jokinen, Sutter, Orpik, and Niskanen are all signed through 2013-14. Fleury is signed through 2014-15. It looks like guys are tagged as UFAs/RFAs one year too early.

Good catch. I forgot to update the headers after I moved everyone along a year. Many thanks.

I would, but i don't think as much of Letang as fans and media do, there is a good goalie suppose to go top 10, maybe we could get our future goalie with that pick.

I don't think picking a goalie in the draft is the way to go. If we take a goalie and he is rushed like Flower was it is a waste.

I would like to see Sill come up and see what he can add to the bottom 3. The 4th line should be built as a puck possesion/forecheck line.

No, those are just the guys who the team owns the rights to, typically through the draft. Of that list, I believe the only one they need to make a decision on right now is Velischek. And actually, they may have already decided to let him go because they've already signed D'Agostino, their other college senior. I'm never sure when the deadline for that is.

Letang for Eberle, Oilers would probably do that to change things up. It's time they make the playoffs, do it Shero!
Letang just got a Norris nod. Worth more than that IMO.

Maybe Eberle and Yakupov for Letang, Sutter and Bennett.

Btw... As an outside fan the Pens need a goalie and shed some spare parts like Kunitz, Dupuis etc.

Nope. Wouldn't do that either. With the trash season that Eberle had this year, the Oilers would have to be adding.

If the organization likes Martin here longterm, then I'd be fine moving Letang for a middle pairing PP QB and a high pick if he wants Doughty/Suter/Weber money. He's done nothing in the playoffs to suggest he deserves that kind of money on a team with Sid/Geno.

I'd like to see Dupuis re-signed. Let him retire here, he's earned it. That's assuming he'd take a discount to stick around, which I think he would.

Niskanen, Glass, and Fleury should all be shipped to the farthest reaches of Siberia to never be heard from again. All are horrible players who don't earn their keep around here, period. Regardless of how much they're making, they don't deserve a spot on this roster based on their play.

Iginla can walk. Sorry, fantastic guy, just doesn't work here. Had such high hopes for him, too. Huge letdown.

Cooke should be retained. He has his ups and downs, but he can bring it come playoff time. He's cleaned up his act over the past few years, and he's a great player for this team.

I like Murray, a lot. I hope he is willing to take a discount to stick around, as well.

Bylsma can get the **** out. Total ****ing clown in several facets of his coaching, from line combos, players he chooses to dress, to his inability to adjust on the fly, to his stubbornness. He's a **** coach, period. Anyone could coach this team to the playoffs, and possibly a division title. Give me a guy who actually knows what the **** he's doing, even if he's not a player's coach. Sick of this "Just didn't get to our game." ********. Wouldn't be surprised if Dan had a pizza party at his house after game 2.

The ball is in Shero's court now. He's got his work cut out for him, but the foundation is there. Just gotta change a few parts here and there, and we'll be fine next season. Should have been fine this season, but... Welp. Bylsma.

Malkin - Would love to get him re-signed this summer. Please retire here, Geno. You're the ****ing man, and we'll get many more chances to win a Cup. Patience.

Iginla - I'm split. Iginla is one of my favorite players ever. He showed flashes, he showed effort. If it isn't resigned I'll be disappointed, but I'm not sure he fit or it's the right time for him here. He's obviously going to need to take a discount. I put full faith in Shero to play this right.

Morrow - I liked Morrow and would like him back. He's not a priority, though, and may or may not fit under the cap.

Murray - I thought he was a great fit. He's slow, he's not perfect, but he's really good at what he does, and the team seems to like him a lot. At 33, I think he'd accept a pay cut.

Cooke - Unfortunately, I don't think we're willing to give him a raise, and I'm not sure he'll accept such a cap-friendly contract here again.

Dupuis - No doubt he gets re-singed in my mind. I'm comfortable giving him a 3 year deal.

Eaton - Thanks for coming back and putting some good minutes in. Time to move on.

Adams - Part of our amazing playoff penalty kill. Resigned, 1 year deal.

Kennedy - If we lose Iginla, Morrow and Cooke, I'd resign him. If not...

Sign Malkin at all costs. See what Letang wants and if it anything north of 5.5 million you shop him. Keep Murray, Dupuis and Cooke if they agree to cap friendly deals, the rest of them can go to the KHL for all I care.

I think we need a big off-season. All bits need improvements. Only a few players are safe.

I personally think that whilst most teams have changed we've, for the most, stood pat an gotten stagnant and predictable. That's partly down to the coaching style but also the players brought in. We need more support for our forward, we can't rely on Crosby and Malkin every game as this series is proving. We have depth but it's not doing it's job and it's not worth it's cap hit. Will do an indepth one tonight.

If Pens lose series in 4 or 5 games the offseason storylines may be interesting. Some think Malkin becomes a trade target. Tough call.
