2015/16 Trade Deadline

NJD: 26-31-6, 27th in the NHL

Was kind of disappointed with this. Didn't expect to be winning a President's trophy but I expected to be a bit better than this. I guess this was a big transition year and maybe I asked too much out of too many players. Boucher was a top line AHL sniper last year and now I have him in the NHL top 6. Joel Ward was brought in and expected to chip in alot on offense. Merrill and Severson were both promoted to top 4 NHL roles. So I feel like this might be a bridge year, and not really a good indicator for how well this core of players can perform.

Anyways, here's the trades, I personally only made 1.

NJD receives
2016 4th Round Pick (OTT)
LW SNP Matt Puempel 78/22/4 red

OTT receives
C PLY Travis Zajac 83 ($1.500M retained yearly by NJD)

Zajac only had 22 points playing on my third line, and I decided that I didn't want to commit to that cap for this kind of player over the next 4 years. I also didn't want to just dump him for nothing, so I was able to get a decent package by retaining a little bit of his salary.

Around the League

STL receives
Alex Tanguay

COL receives
2016 3rd round STL
2016 4th round STL
--
WPG receives
Cam Ward

CAR receives
Paul Postma
Andrew Ladd

This one was a headscratcher for me, WPG doesn't need a goalie and Ladd was captain
--
BUF receives
Chris Kelly

BOS receives
2016 3rd Round BUF
--

As it stands it appears that we're cruising for a top 5 pick. It's possible that I will look to move this pick because I do feel like we have a solid young core of players that are maybe 1 big trade acquisition and 1 big UFA signing away from being a really strong, deep squad. I will take a look at what's on the trading block and also what players might be around when I pick and decide from there though.

I wouldn't mind someone do something with the Kings and Mike Richards or Evander Kane and Winnipeg.

Would love that as well.

I'd personally do it but I'm looking to stay the course with my NJD one.

also @ M.C.G. 31, I'm really loving the Dallas Stars reports. Good work

and @ Jesseboy of course, we love people posting their GM mode stories, no matter if you go frequent/in depth or stretched out/general summary. Always room for more

Does anyone know how EA rate the different potensials in Overall?

e.g. is:
Franchise=93-99
Elite=87-92
Top 6=85-86
Top 9=83-84
Bottom 6=80-82

Is this accurate, or do you have different experiences?

Officially just had my best season in GM Mode, ever.

65-13-4 (134 points). This after a 121 point season last year and back-to-back Stanley Cups. This time am close to if not already a Dynasty!

Kind of want to do a Jets GM with the Kane situation. But at the same time don't want to give up the Tampa Bay Lightning dynasty. Maybe I'll do both.

What overall do you guys think Mike Richards should be demoted to? EA has him down to an 85ovr from 88ovr, but I think he deserves to be down to 81-83ovr. I put him at 81ovr personally.

I also love how EA automatically put Kane down to 85ovr because of this whole fiasco.

Edit:

Was on my own personal roster update, the newest roster update (three days ago) has Richards already in the minors as an 82ovr.

After having the fun I've had with the Stars GM, I can honestly say that middle-of-the-pack teams are the funnest to do in this game.

Conservatory surrounding Evander Kane is squashed, traded to Arizona Coyotes

kane-evander-620.jpg

23 year-old Evander Kane who has been looming in team problems was traded earlier today to the Arizona Coyotes.

There was all sorts of speculation surrounding the Winnipeg Jets, and more specially Evander Kane after the actions he committed, or more so actions he failed to commit to. Early this morning the news broke that the Winnipeg Jets shipped Forward Evander Kane to the Arizona Coyotes.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie · Now

I'm hearing the Winnipeg Jets have traded the controversy-driven Evander Kane to the Arizona Coyotes.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie · Now

I'm also hearing the deal was a one-for-one deal, and the Jets acquired a Forward in return.

Winnipeg Jets @NHLJets · Now

The Winnipeg Jets have traded Forward Evander Kane. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will be speaking with the media shortly.

Jets-GM.jpg

Winnipeg Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff speaks to media following the most recent trading of Evander Kane.

General Manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff:

"Hello, I appreciate you all being here today. I will get to your questions shortly. There has sure been a fair-share of speculation surrounding the team recently and earlier today we traded Evander Kane. We've traded him to the Arizona Coyotes for Forward Mikkel Boedker.

We just felt like a new start for both parties was what was best for everyone. With the recent season-ending shoulder surgery Evander has just went through we just felt if we were going to trade him the best return we'd get for him was right now, rather than letting this sit and stew over the summer.

It was nothing personal, and we both have agreed on that, there was times not everyone saw eye-to-eye but there was always a respect level there. We wish Evander the best of luck in Arizona with the Coyotes."

"Alright, I'll now answer any questions you may have."

Why trade Evander to Arizona and not the likes of a Cup-Contending Team like Pittsburgh, Boston or Chicago?

"We talked with several teams, including those you mentioned and we brainstormed what we could've done, but we just felt like the best fit was Arizona with a younger-core coming up there and we just felt like it was a good fit for him, along with that we liked what Mikkel is going to bring to are Team and for the Playoffs."

What do you see Mikkel being to the Team?

"I really like Mikkel, I like his character, of course his skill and his experience. I think he will really mesh in with what we have going here and will just add to our group, especially in the scoring department, he is also a good defensive player."

Where do you see him playing? Will this trade mean Byfuglien will move down to Defence again?

"I see him playing in a secondary role, we're going to see what we can do here, but we have strong hopes and believes he will do nothing but help us.

Yeah, it's looking like Buff's going to be moving back down to Defence, we're going to have a talk with him here and see what we can do."

"Alright, that's it. Thank you everyone for coming. We'd like to lastly welcome Mikkel to the Team, we expect him to suit up for us asap."

Mikkel has the same play-style as Evander, and is just 24-years old. He has one year remaining and is an RFA.

Calgary Looks To Greater Heights

The new General Manager of the Calgary Flames, Carson Shmyr, had a great time in the days leading up to the draft. It was no surprise to the media that some of the first words he said as a General Manager were "this team will become better under me".

Prior too the Top Prospects Game, Flames scout Michael Anderson approached Shmyr with the top five prospects for the Flames to look for the coming year.

Centerman, Dominic Turgeon
Centerman, Jake Coughler
Right Wing, Scott Teskey
Left Wing, Aaron Macklin
Left Wing, Alexis Pepin

Entry Draft

The top five draft picks of the 2014-15 season, were highly though to be Sam Reinhart, Aaron Ekblad, Sam Bennet, Michael Dal Colle, and Leon Draisaitl.

But a surprise change of events saw B. Moran go 1st Overall to the Florida Panthers. Sam Reinhart was taken by the Buffalo Sabres, and A. Bureau went 3rd to Edmonton.

Too the surprise of many, Aaron Ekblad fell 4th Overall to the Calgary Flames.

Other top prospects Matt Mistele, Nick Ritchie, Nikita Sherback, Tyson Baillie. Roland McKeown, Leon Draisaitl, Michael Dal Colle, Jake Virtanen, Nikolai Goldobin, and Eetu Lauikainen went 5th, 6th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 21st, 23rd, 26th, 27th and 30th Overall respectively.

Obviously, this left Shmyr incredibly happy. His number two prospect, Sam Bennet, was still available.

Everyone expected Shmyr to take Bennet with the 31st pick, but in a surprise move, Shmyr instead took Right Winger Joshua Ho-Sang of the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL.

The 34th Overall pick would become Hayden Fleury, a defensman partner for Ekblad in the future. At 54th, Shmyr showed his expertise as a top GM by selecting Sam Bennet from Kingston.

In a suprise move, Calgary sent C, Matt Stajan to Arizona for D, Cade Fairchild and a 73rd Overall Draft pick. The move would give Calgary their second pick of the round.

In the third round, Calgary would use their picks on Nikolaj Ehlers (73rd) and Julius Honka, small defensmen from Swift Current (83rd).

Zane Jones was the 94th pick, followed by Darren Raddysh in the Sixth Round at 145th. The 149th pick would become goaltender Alex Dubeau.

H[NHL][NHL][/NHL][/NHL]ey guys! I'm a newbie to all of this. I came across it one night bored out of my mind looking for a little help with the game and thought this was an entertaining way to pass by the time. If you have any tips for me it would be graet!

With the state of my beloved mapleleafs I've decided to sim a 15 year mode and rebuild this struggling franchise from the bottom up. using real storylines and management. My rules are pretty simple, they are : sim to todays date without any trades,( where a press conference has been called by shannahan to address the state of the organization) Pick can only be traded for the current and next year.
hope you all enjoy my fantasy gm mode .

Without l further ado we send you to Toronto where president of maple leafs has called a press conference to address the state of the Toronto maple leafs organization.
http://hfboards.mandatory.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=79333&stc=1&d=1423448429

I would like to start out by saying thank you to the Toronto media for coming on such short notice a nd special thanks to all the fans watching on leafs tv. as we all know we finally broke our 11 game losing streak against the oilers last night. so I've decided to call this press conference to address the future of this franchise. over the past ten months I've been very quiet for good reason , I wanted to see what this franchise was all about. Ive evaluated intensly all aspect that this franchise has to offer andhave finally come to terms that in order to bring the maple leafs back to prominence we will be going to start a total rebuild of this team. from the bottom to the top. to ensure a competive future within three to five years. the first order of business is to announce that I have accepted the resignation of gm dave nonis as he was offered and accepted the vp of hockey operations in Calgary. I would like to thank him for all his hard work over the last year as this position was offered to him last spring and on my request asked him to stay on as gm until I fully evaluated this team. I wish dave all the best in Calgary. with that I would like to announce introduce the new gm of the Toronto maple leafs Mark hunter.

MH: a special thank you to Brendan shannnahan and the brass of mlse for this opportunity. As my first act as Gm I would like to announce the promotion of peter horacek to director of player personnel and scouting. he will resume this role just before the draft where we will name the new head coach of the Toronto maple leafs.

over the last year shannahan, dubas and mysely have evaluated the maple leafs core players and talent pool and its safe to say that pretty much everyone is trade able except for the new core of this franchise which consist of :

Bibeau
gautier
nylander
percy

2018-2019 DALLAS STARS

-- After looking at the roster, it was decided that the Stars had to go out and make a move thanks to Jason Spezza's decline to nothing more than a 3rd line center. Add in that Slater Koekkoek and Julius Honka were NHL-ready, it led to the Stars putting together a big package to get a new, younger #2C...

Toronto Maple leafs 2014 / 2015 gm mode

View attachment 79335http://hfboards.mandatory.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=79335&stc=1&d=1423457021
Hey guys!

Bibeau riley jvr
gautier gardinier
nylander polak
percy kadri

And you new team captain leo komorov!

everyone else will be dealt with in the coming weeks up till the tradedeadline.

shannahan:

thank you mark and there you have it Toronto the new era of mlse has begun and were getting ready for trade deadline and the draft. I hope this has silenced all the critics about the future of this franchise. Thank you to everyone who came out today .

Started up a new GM Mode with Washington and for some unknown reason, Vancouver traded Jake Virtanen to Anaheim for Dany Heatley.

Hahah.

In my Tampa GM I saw Ottawa trade Karlsson to Columbus for a 1st and 2nd. He was 30 years old.

Inshanny - welcome to the place! Curious to see what you do with the Leafs. Looking forward to it. Fair note - you may want to do a personal edit on Nylander (unless the latest roster updates have bumped him up a touch).

Based on some of the older roster updates I know he's a bit of a bust prospect
