PS3. And obviously they ask for more. I'm relating it to real life. It's way easier to lock up guys in the game the way it is like I did Couture for 5 or 6 years at less than $6 million (or somewhere around there) while he's constantly a 75-85 point player for me and 90 overall.

That's why they need to patch the .85 trick in 16, and need to make it so the better the player the higher the salary, EA just doesn't make GM Mode hard enough, but i'm hoping the morale and demanding trades thing helps the difficulty of GM Mode.

I'm on Xbox one so not sure what the differences are. In a Tampa one I did Stamkos asked for about 1mil raise, not a lot. But what happened was Kucherov and Drouin were both high 80's so they both wanted close to 7mil after their ELC which hurt, Hedman also wanted a significant raise as did Vasilevskiy. I could've traded away Filpulla, Carle and Callahan who are highly paid but that wouldn't be realistic, except for Carle.

It seems if you start with a cap team it's harder then a rebuilding one. Also the cap only rises about 1 million a year.

2015-2016 (2nd season)

This year, I’ll try to focus more on Ovechkin, but it will be not the same concentration as for rookie last year.
I also have to think about Brouwer3.5 (and Ward2.8). Orlov 1.9 and Wilson 1.2 I’m sure will take more space next year, so a trade with Brouwer could be a possibility @ the deadline.

1-3-1 to start the season. I won the SCF rematch @ Blues 3-1. They had 2-6-0 start. Very difficult for the finalists the beginning of the year.

Orpik was injured after 10 games. Orlov will take his place for a month on the top pair.

After 20GP, Bergeron has 21G :joker: 8 more than Ovi. The leader for Art has 31 points. So, it will be difficult for Ovi to win ART/HART/Richard
He also had 4-5 minutes PG less than the others leaders. (realistic :yo: )

And I think I had some problems with goalies stats. 14W but we have won a total of 12G . I’ve missed something :amazed: ???

And your favorite part right now, PICK TRADE :yo: :)

Chicago (23GP-27PTS) leader of the division, and the 4th of the division is far away. Montreal (19GP - 25PTS) but they are 5th in the division. 4-6 it’s tight. 1st trade.

And then I decided to exchange this one. I lost the 3rd pick, but it’s not a problem, I’ve drafted 8 players last year, so I can choose 6 this year. Not a big loss.
NYR (21GP - 17PTS) 25th in the league and 6th in the division. 9 pts behind me (I’m 3rd) and the Atlantic is better this year (for 2WC)

Question, is their any way to make the RFA/offer sheet process at all possible? I just started trying it since offer sheets might happen this offseason but all the RFAs get resigned right away. Any advice? Is it just not really possible to make one to a top player?

Question, is their any way to make the RFA/offer sheet process at all possible? I just started trying it since offer sheets might happen this offseason but all the RFAs get resigned right away. Any advice? Is it just not really possible to make one to a top player?

They happen a lot with players from teams like Anaheim, LA, and Tampa who have tight caps in the game.

You can't offer sheet before July 1st, and most RFA's get extended since most teams have the cap space to meet their demands.

The RFA's who hit the open market on July 1st show up with the rest of the UFA's on the free agent screen, but there is a specific tab you can go to just to see RFA's. You'll see their original team will be marked as one of the "TI" teams interested. When you offer them a contract, it will warn you that if they accept and the other team is unable to match, you'll have to give them x draft picks as compensation.

The AI is not very good. For example, there might be a prospect whose trade value is the equivalent of a 2nd or even a low end 1st, and you offer sheet them a low amount that would require a 3rd in compensation.

The logical thing a team would do in real life would be to trade the RFA rights to a team that can match and wants the player in exchange for something greater than the tiny compensation of a 3rd. But they don't do that. If they don't have cap space, they just don't match, and accept compensation.

Calgary Flames : Be a GM

1) Be a GM Preview
2) 14-15 Season Preview

JAN 1ST UFA REPORT

UFA's

The Calgary Flames have 3 UFA's (Unrestricted Free Agents) who are roster players at the moment. These 3 players are :

  1. F ~ Tyler Kennedy
  2. F ~ Tye McGinn
  3. D ~ Cody Franson

These 3 players have already notified the team about their decisions on whether or not they would like to test the market. All other UFA's have the right to re-sign or not, but only these 3 players are notable. Here is GM Brant King on their current situation.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

images

Franson Stays, Kennedy Unsure, McGinn Goes

King : As you all know, we have 3 pending UFA's who have all submitted their decisions on whether or not they will join the current FA pool. I have all the results and here they are; Tyler Kennedy has not shut the door on returning to the Calgary Flames, but he will test free agency. Tye McGinn has chosen that he will NOT resign with the Flames. And last but not least, Cody Franson has decided that he will resign with the Flames as long as they have the cap space.

NEXT UP, TRADE DEADLINE AND SEASON RECAP...

2015-2016 (2nd season)

Mid season report.

Ovechkin gets the 900th points of his career and Carlson the 200th.

Ovi and Backstrom were injured and missed 2 games for Ovi and 4 for Backstrom.

Ovechkin, Sharp and Perry T-1st for Maurice Richard. And Ovi is 9 points behind the Art Ross leader.

Holtby T-2nd for W, 1 win away from the leader.

After the pick trade NYR is not anymore 25th, but 20th. But they're far away from PO position.

Hershey had a good run, and now are more comfortable in the standings.

Off-Season Game Plan, Philadelphia Flyers
NHL-Philadelphia-Flyers-Logo-Wallpaper-448x315-300x210.png

The Flyers had a lot celebrate this year, their offence lit the lamp a league high 291 times. The Flyers rode their potent offence to a 50-24-8 record, good for 4th in the league and 2nd in the division. Come playoff time the Flyers fell in 7 to the New York Rangers, which prompted star winger Jakub Voracek to say: "They're a better than us, they have better D and a better goalie. Steve is good goalie, I like him a lot. He can win us cup, but not with this team. We must improve, I want to win." Our off-season game plan looks at how the Fylers can take the next step.
032814_giroux-voracek_600.jpg

GM Kyle Dubas stood pat at the deadline, saying that he wanted to see how good the team really was. The window for the Flyers is opening, and they have to take advantage. Claude Grioux dominated the NHL this year, topping the league in goals, assists and points, all career highs. He wasn't the only Flyer to have a career year, Jakub Voracek lit the lamp a whooping 48 times and Wayne Simmonds scored 44 goals. The Fylers top line can compete with the best of them. Brayden Schenn is slowly turning into a premier 2 way center and had a career high 63 points this year. Recently retired Daniel Briere was a nice fit for the Flyers as he put up 19G and 33A for 52PTS.

Come playoff time it was clear the Flyers could create and score, offence isn't a concern as they enter the off-season, however they will need to replace Briere's production. Look for Sean Couturier, Mason Raymond and Vinny Lecavalier to bounce back from disappointing years.

The Flyers could look to add a top 6 forward via Trade or FA, Justin Williams proved to a great signing last summer.

macdonald-480038457-640x427.jpg

On the backend the team was led by Andy MacDonald who put 53pts, (7G, 49A) he's under contract at a bargain 5M for 4 more years. Michael Del Zotto broke out offensively this year putting up a career high 45 points. Both Del Zotto and MacDonald are capable top 4 defenceman. In the playoffs the Flyers defensive depth was tested, and while the team has a glut of bottom paid defenceman, they could use atleast one more top 4 defenceman if they want to be considered serious contenders. If Robert Hagg can emerge and develop into a top 4 defenceman then the Flyers may only need one top 4 defenceman, if not they'll need 2. The Flyers boast multiple prospects on the back end, Kevin Gravel and Shayne Gothisbhere are very likely to make the team next year and could possibly help the Flyers defensive woes.

This summers free agent crop should have a few quality defenceman available and the Flyers should be all over them.

jackets-notes-12-19-art-gbcq6b1k-1sports-hkn-flyers-caps-23-mct.jpg

In goal Steve Mason had an excellent year starting 70 games and winning 45 of them. His backup Joni Ortio struggled at times, but he should develop further with more playing time. The Flyers could look to tweak their goaltending, and look for an experienced backup, however it seems unlikely at this point.

Needs: top 6 forward, top 9 forward, top 2 defenceman, top 4 defenceman

Trade block: Vincent Lecavalier, Sean Couturier, 1st round pick, Luke Schenn

Flyers draft review
NHL-Philadelphia-Flyers-Logo-Wallpaper-448x315-300x210.png

The Philadelphia Flyers were not as busy as some expected they'd be during the NHL entry draft, they made a trade and 10 selections at the draft.

They shipped out veteran center Vincent Lecavalier, and 2017 4th and 5th round picks, sending them to Detroit for center Dominic Moore. "We have Scott Laughton coming up in the minors, he's ready to play for us. We wanted to open up a roster spot and clear some cap space and there's a cost to do that. Dominic won't be signed by us."

The Flyers draft selections are as follows:

Kyle Dubas said that he was pleased with the team's draft, and informed fans that Jakub Voracek would be re-signing with the team, he also said that Luke Schenn, Michael Raffl and Raphael Diaz will test the market. Diaz was told he will not be brought back.

2015-2016 (2nd season)

End of regular season report.

47W, 1st goal reached.

Like 8 years ago, Ovi ties his record for goals scored in a single regular season, 65. :yo: He was too hot on the second part of the season.
He put a hat trick against Carolina (Game N°57), the next game against New Jersey another hatty. And two games later @ Centre Bell, 5 goals :yo:

Maurice (14 more goals than the second) and Art (8 more points than the second) for Ovi. Holtby 1st in W and T-1st for SO.

Ovechkin (22minutes) and Klingberg (12 minutes) played @ the All Star Game.

I won the 2 games against the stanley cup holder this year. (And St Louis will miss the postseason :amazed: )

I also lost a funny game in Shootout @ Ducks. 26 shooters and just 1 goal. Etem.

Before the deadline I've received just one offer, from Philly. They wanted Fehr for Emery, no no no.

For the second year, no move for us @ deadline, but I tried to trade Orpik, not a good year for him, a lot of mistakes, but it was impossible to get even an AHL player @55 for him :cry: . And after the deadline, he was injured for 2-3 weeks. A total of 58GP just this year.
Other majors move on deadline.
Nielsen -> MTL
Scherbak -> NYI
Jokinen -> BOS
Backes -> LAK

Alzner missed 3 last games of the regular season due to an injury.

At the end of the year I had 2 "incredible" strecth.
1-9-0 (It cost me the Presidents Trophy I'm sure, 7 points behind Wild at the end)
10-1-0 (in the last eleven games)

Hershey won the regular season in the AHL :yo: but Grubauer was injured on the 19th of march and will come back just on 8th may :cry: First, maybe second series in PO without him.

Not into my Flyers team anymore. Will do a Canes career, build from nothing.

Edit: I'm going to hang into the Flyers Be-A-GM for later. My Canes Be-A-GM is going to feature my created player.

I have to say, it seems like you lose interest in GM Modes fast, I hope that isn't the case for NHL 16, I like reading your posts :laugh:

Go from rebuild to contender. Or go from contender to rebuild to contender.

Flyers off season report
nhl-nhl-philadelphia-flyers.jpg

Kyle Dubas took a moment to address his off-season moves with us and shared his thoughts on the coming year.

Before we do that, here's a look back at the Flyers off-season:
Re-signings
M.Ferland 1yr 715k
A.Johnson 1yr 630k
J.Ortio 3yr 1M
R.Gudas 1yr 2.3M
K.Gravel 1yr 800k
S.Couturier 4yr 3.1M
B.Schenn 4yr 5.75M
M.Brown 1yr 800k
J.Voracek 6yrs 7M
I.Provorov 3yr 900k
J.Morrisey 3yr 700k

Players leaving
M.Raffl
C.Terry
L.Schenn
R.Diaz
M.Lamarche

During Free Agency the Flyers added forwards Jaromir Jagr (1yr 4.8M) and Sean Bergenheim (2yrs 3.3M).

Kyle gave us an in depth interview:

Reporter: Kyle, your team is coming off a season where you guys swept the trophy scene, were dominant during the regular season, but fell in 7 come playoffs, how do you feel about this ?

Kyle: Well look, anytime you lose in the first round it's really ****ing bitter. We have Giroux who won the Art Ross, the Rocket Richard, the ****ing Selke and the Lindsay, then Andy Mac who wins the Norris and Jakey who won the Lady Byng. It was ******, and to make it worse we lose to the ****ing Rangers. It hurt like hell.

Reporter: You said last year the team wasn't ready, and at the deadline this year you were quiet, why ? Is the team ready ?

Kyle: We took a look at our roster at the deadline and we wanted to make a move but the price wasn't right and again we felt we had to know what we had at the back. in the off-season, and we felt we had to replace the production we were losing in Briere, Raffl and Lecavalier. We bring in 2 guys who have been around the block, they've got experience and they're upgrades quite frankly. We've looked at tweaking our D but the price is steep. We have some young D coming up and we have to see just how good they are. If they can play we gotta play them, maybe the soloution is here. If not we'll go and find it.

Reporter: Is the window open ? Is there a hesitation to give up some players ?

Kyle: I would say we've got a 5-6 year window now where we could win a few. The team need a push over the hump. You're always hesitant to give up assests, but if I feel the deal is right, we're going to pull the trigger on it.

Reporter: Tell us a bit about the Jake Voracek negotiations, and the Luke Schenn situation.
JakubVoracek.jpg

Kyle: When it came to Jake, we asked him in September just before training camp to let us know by Decemeber what his intentions were, ownership and I decided money wouldn't be a contract and neither was term. He's 26, he's a tremendous player, you don't let those guys walk because you want to be cheap. Quality costs money. He told us a week later he wanted to stay, then in June after the draft he says: "I can win here, I like it here, I going to ask for less because we need room for guys to play here. I want to be here as long as Claude". At that point is was a done deal, he always had a blank check, he's earned it. When it came to Luke, we would of liked to keep him, but at the day's end it turned out that he didn't see a long term fit. These things happen all the time.

Reporter: Thanks for doing this Kyle, Good luck this year.

Kyle: You're welcome.

The Flyers head into the season with big expectations, offence will once again be a strength, defence will be a point of concern, and the goal will be safe in the hands of Steve Mason.

The Sharks make a big splash, signing Ryan Johansen to a long-term deal on Free Agent Frenzy.

RUMOUR REPORT

-- Elliotte Friedman recently mentioned in his "30 thoughts" that there are worries in San Jose on the blue line. Despite locking up Ryan Johansen, and moving forward with Pacioretty, Couture, Kessel, Strome, Johansen, Hertl and Stepan as their major pieces of front, they have concerns on the back end that their top two defenseman (or 2 of their top 3, depending on who you talk to) are declining and declining fast in Vlasic and Petry. Those two players were visibly tired by the 3rd round of the playoffs, where the Sharks were ultimately eliminated in 5 games by the Minnesota Wild. There are rumours going around that the Sharks could be dangling Mikko Rantanen and other pieces to get an upgrade on defense so they can remain contenders in the league. Rumours were that the Sharks were linked to Erik Karlsson, whose salary is too big for owner, Eugene Melnyk's liking, who keeps Ottawa under an internal budget.

1st Round

:caps VS :flyers

I beat them in the second round last year.

Game 2 => Flyers 3 @ 4 Capitals (OT) . Backstrom wins it in OT, PPG.
Game 3 => Capitals 4 @ 6 Flyers
Game 4 => Capitals 2 @ 1 Flyers . Ovi double.
Game 5 => Flyers 1 @ 2 Capitals

The goal is reached, we're in the second round.

2nd Round

:pens VS :caps

Last year I played against Pens then Flyers, this year it's Flyers then Pens.

Game 1 => Capitals 2 @ 6 Penguins . 3rd period collapse
Game 2 => Capitals 1 @ 2 Penguins
Game 3 => Penguins 6 @ 1 Capitals
Game 4 => Penguins 1 @ 3 Capitals
Game 5 => Capitals 4 @ 1 Penguins
Game 6 => Penguins 5 @ 4 Capitals . Crosby ties it with 57 seconds to go and Malkin wins it with 5.9 to go in the third.

Down 3-0 It was difficult to come back, but I almost forced a game 7. :cry: Like last year, a heartbreaking loss to "finish" the season.
