Very cool Screech - I remember last year's GM challenges were amazing.

I'll sit this one out, but will definitely be reading. Bonus points for no McDavid ;)

Also - will give the Eichel draft birthday garbage another shot when I get back home. Doubt it'll work, I tried everything.
Create Eichel again, set his pro team to "none" before changing his birthdate.

I'll put the ratings up when I get back to my PS4, but right now I'm in year 3 of my rebuild with the Leafs. Sold off Bozak for a 2nd Round pick and a bottom 6 prospect. Kessel returned Rychel, 1st Rounder and a 2nd Rounder from the Blue Jackets and I traded Phaneuf back to Calgary from something. Just can't remember what.

Bottomed out the first season (finished 28th, right besides Buffalo and Florida) and won the lottery. Drafted McDavid. Columbus' pick turned out to be 11th and I drafted Crouse, but after 3 years he hasn't developed much.

Went into the second year and sold off some depth for picks and bottomed out once more. Picked 3rd and drafted Sean Day.

Third year same concept but started moving some Marlies into the bottom 6 roles to get NHL experience. Gauthier has been developing nicely (82 overall at 21). At the draft I was picking top 6 I believe, and I made a trade for Dal Colle. Give them JVR for him and their first (JVR is 89 at this point and coming off a 42 goal season so it makes sense on paper).

Currently going into 2017-2018 with my core looking like this:

McDavid, Nylander, Rychel, Rielly, Dal Colle, Day.

Very nice core. Why move JvR after that sort of year?

Curious about Crouse - he's one of those who's development I find so unpredictable.

End of season report/Draft preview
NHLjets-2.jpg

The Winnipeg Jets have many reason to look back at their 2015-2016 season and feel proud. 57 wins, a franchise record. A trip to the conference final for the first time in franchise history. A captain who led the league in scoring. Yes there are plenty of things to feel proud of, however for GM Martin Ward and coach Paul Maurice there is still work to be done.

"We need to add another top 2 defenceman in the off-season. The price will be high but if you look at these elite teams they have elite goaltending and an elite top pairing." When asked about this year's goaltending he said: "Ondrej was good, and we have Eric Comrie who just won the Calder cup, they'll battle it out and we will move forward with the better goaltender. We want to win and may look to speed up the process but at the same time it's important that we develop our young players as they will ensure continued success." All signs point to captain Andrew Ladd being resigned, the Jets have multiple RFA's including Mark Sheifele and Brett Connolly that must be re-signed, time will tell if the Jets can sign them all.

"I'm pleased with the progress we made this year, when you win 57 hockey games you can't complain too much. We're a young team that is only going to get better."-Jets Head Coach Paul Maurice.

Ottawa Senators
2015-16 season recap

The Ottawa Senators are the Stanley Cup Champions!!!
Expectations for 2015-16 were not high for the Ottawa Senators after finishing 2014-15 in 30th place in the NHL. The Senators had a great regular season, finishing 1st in the East and 2nd in the NHL. The Sens had a very easy time through the first two playoff rounds, sweeping Montreal in round 1, then beating Detroit 4-2 in round 2, before beating Florida, who only scored 1 goal in the first three games of the series, in 5 games to go to their second Stanley Cup Final in 8 years (2007, 2015). They played the Chicago Blackhawks in the Finals, winning in 5 games to win the Stanley Cup. Robin Lehner had 16 wins and 4 shutouts, but it was Kyle Turris winning the Conn Smythe with 23 points in 21 games. Karlsson also won the Norris.

Free Agent Frenzy
freeagentfrenzy2013.jpg

James Duthie here with all your TSN insiders, on what is perhaps the most exciting day of the year. Free agent frenzy. Some big names out there, however none are bigger than Brett Seabrook. He's sure to attract many suitors as is Ryan Kesler.

Bob: That's right James, Seabrook and Kesler are the cream of the crop and teams will be calling them. Kevin Bieksa, Brian Campbell and James Reimer will also field plenty of interest.

Darren: I'm told Seabrook wants a 6 year term south of 6M per.

Pierre: There are also a few prospects on the market, Eric Cornel, Brycen Martin, Brendan Lemieux and Alex Peters will fetch interest from teams who are looking to add to their prospect pool.

Gord: I'm told Seabrook will listen to all offers, however he is most curious to hear Winnipeg's proposal.

Darren: Jets will aggressively pursue Seabrook as they look to take the next step.

James: The Seabrook Sweepstakes are underway here, on what promises to be a busy day.

Pierre: Whoever gets this guy is getting a hell of a player and is going to get a lot better. Senators are in the mix and my god would a Karlsson-Seabrook pairing be scary.

Ray: Sens want to get back into the playoff mix and this is a move that would certainly do it.

James: We have a signing to announce.

Gord: Winnipeg Jets sign Barrie Colts F Brendan Lemieux.

Ray: Guys i'm not surprised by this, Dale Hawlerchuck is a close personal advisor to Jets GM Martin Ward, so I'm sure they did their homework. He refused to sign with Buffalo after being cut from the team 2 years running, will be an interesting prospect to watch.
Ryan+Kesler+Anaheim+Ducks+v+Los+Angeles+Kings+7Ww6BO9NTcJl.jpg

Bob: Kesler Sweepstakes heating up, 5 teams interested. Colorado in the mix. Eric Cornel is getting a ton of interest.

Craig: Another Sabres draft choice that went unsigned, two-way player with good size, could be a 2nd line center down the line.

James: Looks like Gord has got something.

Gord: Flurry of signings, prospects flocking to Winnipeg. Jets have signed Derek Dorsett, Eric Cornel, Brycen Martin, Alex Peters and Landon Bow. Brian Campbell lands in Montreal, Alex Killorn in Colorado and David Jones in New Jersey.

Pierre: Jets are at 50 contracts, they have to make a move in they want to sign Seabrook. They are loaded for the future I would expect a busy summer in Winnipeg.

James: Seriously what are the Jets going to do with all these prospects ?

Darren: Winnipeg has traded Karl Klingberg to Buffalo for 2017 5th, 6th and 7th round picks.

Pierre: That frees up a contract for Seabrook.

Craig: I would expect the Jets will move some of these youngsters out sooner or later, might just be packaging them for more picks. Good cycle.

Gord: Nearing the end of the day here, but we've got big news. Bieksa signs with New Jersey, Kesler with Phoenix, and Seabrook has signed a 6 year deal with the Winnipeg Jets worth 6.5M per year. I would expect that Toby Enstrom's days with the Jets are numbered now.

Pierre: The Jets are serious about winning, they added grit to that 4th line and one of the best defenders in hockey today. They are amongst the cup favorites for the year.

Darren: Jets really wanted to add Seabrook, they felt they were missing a true top 2. You look at the west, every top team has their top 2 pairing, Jets knew they needed another D. Market for Enstrom will be huge.

James: The newest Jet Brent Seabrook is on the line joining us, Brent why the Jets ?
Brent+Seabrook+Anaheim+Ducks+v+Chicago+Blackhawks+u1F9cqo0lH3l.jpg

Brent: I played against them all year last year and I felt they were a young team on the rise, wanted to be a part of it. I wanted a new challenge and this is it.

James: Are you sad to be leaving Chicago where you one 2 Stanley Cups ?

Brent: Of course, but I'm 31 and I feel like I've accomplished all that I can there.

James: Well I'll leave you to enjoy this moment, good luck this year, and thanks for doing this.

Brent: Thanks for having me.

James: This concludes our TSN free agent frenzy coverage, thanks for joining us and we'll see you at puck drop.

The Second Draft

And now, you're TSN Insiders with draft day coverage.

Bob McKenzie: Well folks, the Calgary Flames and GM Carson Shmyr sure have been busy today. Shmyr seems to be looking for return on veteran defensmen Mark Giordano, along with expressing interest in using his 3rd overall pick on Centerman Matt Barzal.

Pierre Lebrun: Well rumor has it the Flames are also looking to secure Yannick Turcotte, Cameron Askew, Nikita Korostelev, Grayson Pawlenchuk, and Adam Musil. Travis Konecky is up there as well.

Darren Dreger: Nikiti Korostelev, Adam Musil and Matt Barzal on one team? What a combo!

Bob McKenzie: Shmyr also expects to acquire G, Frederik Kristensen of the Swedish Elite League as well.

Darren Dreger: Well, now Shmyr is faced with the choice of 3rd Overall Pick. McDavid's gone, but top prospects Nick Meloche, Travis Konecky, Matt Barzal, Cameron Hanson, Nikita Korostelev and Daniel Gibl are still available. I'm not Shmyr was expecting Meloche to still be available with this pick.

Bob McKenzie: Certainly not. His thoughts are changing. Will he take Meloche? He already has Fleury and Ekblad for the future, and he wants a top defense to replace Giordano. I think the move is between either Konecky or Barzal. Both are 18, both are 5,11" although Barzal is exactly one pound up on Konecky.

Pierre Lebrun: What about a Blake Clarke pick? He's a strong left handed winger, and he's big. He could easily become a top power forward for Calgary. Hanson and Latulippe are off the table, and he's not going to use his pick on Gibl. He wants to use his 3rd Rounder (one of) on a goalie (Kristensen).

Bob McKenzie: This just in, Shmyr used his pick on Barzal. He said he was to go through with it, and he just has.

Darren Dreger: Well, the next two should be Meloche and Gibl with Clarke and Konecky not far after.

Pierre Lebrun: Well, the team has a 3rd Pick and 23rd in the 2nd Round. Who is available the team still wants?

Bob McKenzie: Wow, and now Shmyr has traded LW Prospect Morgan Klimchuk to Columbus for C Boone Jenner and a 3rd Round Pick (73rd). What's he planning?

Pierre Lebrun: Apparently to pick Pavel Zacha with his 3rd in the 2nd Round. What's that? Dylan Strome was a lock to go to the Flames!

Bob McKenzie: Well, Strome's gone now. Buffalo selected him with the 6th in the 2nd Round. The Flames select Grayson Pawlenchuk with the 23rd in the 2nd.

-3 Hours Later-

Bob McKenzie: The Flames have traded Mark Giordano and Alex Dubeau to Buffalo for a 5th Round Pick, Tyler Myers and Jhonas Enroth. The trade should help them in net and replace Giordano on defense for a few years.

Pierre Lebrun: Not to mention the four 3rd Round picks used on RW Daniel Sprong, G Frederick Kristensen, LW Justin Spagrud and D Carl Dahlstrom.

Bob McKenzie: The team has just moved Mike Cammaleri for a 2016 First and two 2015 Fourths.

Darren Dreger: Also the 4th Rounders they used to acquire Tomas Dvorak, Jack Flinn and Kolton Dixon.

Bob McKenzie: This in, the team has announced their two 5th Round Picks to be Matthew Watson and Connor Sills.

*I used my last three picks on Mikko Rantanen, Ethan Bear and Matteo Ciccarelli.

Pre Season 2

The Flames have traded Mason Raymond and Chris Butler to the Avalanche for a 2016 1st Round Pick.

With a busy off season, the team also signed Goaltender Jonathan Bernier and RW Patrick Kane. And the team still has 18 Million Dollars left. Another small signing, Keith Ballard was given a 2 Million Dollar contract.

Shmyr says these changes will help the Flames take on a harder NHL this year.

Very nice core. Why move JvR after that sort of year?

Curious about Crouse - he's one of those who's development I find so unpredictable.

Personal opinion about him overall. One of my favourite players on the Leafs and I try to be as close to what the Leafs might actually do (so the only people bringing firsts back was Kessel and maybe Phaneuf from a team that doesn't need their's as much) and I'm still in the process of rebuilding. I probably won't challenge for a high playoff spot until after McDavid's rookie season which is 2018. JVR will be 28-29, so I sold high on him. Plus I have a younger Rychel who can become a more traditional drive the net power forward.

EDIT: Well I drafted him and McDavid in the first round of 2015. He hasn't grown much. He's like 20 and he's a 68 I believe. Not too certain about his development. More concerned with how long it'll take for Day to develop so I can pair him with Rielly and move Percy down to top 4 with Gardiner.

2018/19 Starting Line-Up

Seguin (90) - Drouin (90) - Kane (90)
Reinhart (89) - Miller (87) - Tellqvist (82)
Domi (84) - Bennett (82) - Ceei (85)
Romano (79) - Johnson (83) - Roussel (85)

Leddy (88) - Hamilton (86)
Jones (84) - Elliott (85)
Sweeney (81) - Honka (80)

Gibson (91)
Tuominen (84)

Tellqvist is 19 year old, 5Y star SNP.
Romano is a 20 year old, 4Y star PWF.
Tuominen is a 21 year old, 4R star HYB.

Decided to let Johnson go to free agency and luckily Leddy was there! 90 passing and 91 offensive awareness, he's going to BEAST playing on the PP with Reinhart, Seguin, Kane and Drouin.

That McDavid trade is looking pretty bad on my end. Ceci and Jones stopped progressing the instant I traded for them and Kucherov is an AHL tier player. I was close to going after Morgan Rielly but I decided against it because I thought he was OP.

Create Eichel again, set his pro team to "none" before changing his birthdate.

Perfect.

For some dumb reason (....*me*....) I wasn't able to change his pro team before the birthday, but somehow it just let me today.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Would be willing to type up a step-by-step tutorial on how to implement prospects in the game if needed.

I've added Eichel, Hanafin for 2015. Added Auston Matthews for 2016 draft, and also added a fee US prospects like Dylan Larkin as well

Trade Deadline 2015

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 31-28-4

Only 2 trades made so far, both involving goaltending.
We felt that Bernier was the better tendy for our organization, and that without Reiner nipping at his heels he would feel more confident in his game.

FLA receives:
G James Reimer
TOR receives:
2016 1st
2016 2nd

The Florida organization came to us with this deal when Luongo was injured, and I gladly accepted.
However, after a few months it came to my notice that our backup goalie was by quite as capable of playing in the NHL as we thought he would be. (Especially as our coach played him more than Bernier. WTF??)
This lead to...

BUF receives:
2015 2nd

TOR receives:
G Jhonas Enroth
2015 5th

In this deal we received a proven goalie that is a significant upgrade from our current backup (70-82) and we feel that this will eliminate those 6,7,8, and 9 goal games which was no fault of the team.

Rumours are swirling about Joffrey Lupul on the block this deadline, but I would like to say that his production has improved since I talked to him and he will not be moved unless I receive a significant offer.

Leddy (86) - Barrie (86)
Ceci (85) - Hamilton (86)
Malakhov (82) - Jones (84)

Galiardi is a 4.5 red star grinder who is 21 years old. Drafted 40th overall.
Malakhov is a 4.5 red star TWD who is 20 years old. Drafted 13th overall.

It was tough to let Elliott and Johnson go to free agency but they weren't producing well in their roles on the team. I replaced them with Barrie and Shaw which should be a nice upgrade.

I don't know what to do with the goaltending situation considering this is a no trade mode. I guess I'll have to qualify Tuominen when he's up and take the offersheet or let Gibson walk...
