Nope. The trailer was very misleading. Post-Crisis it's been the probablybest CW DC show. Much like with Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor on Supergirl, Rachel Skarsten Alive really carries the show. Storytelling has really improved along the season.

I had kind of gotten used to Ruby Rose as Kate/Batwoman so this is kind of disappointing...

I remember watching the show up to the Crisis thing and then watching that and feeling like the acting etc felt like a porn parody without the hardcore sex.

Ruby Rose is an awful actress. she's just a block of wood in everything she does. But when I compared Gotham to Batwoman, Batwoman was just left in the dust and not interesting so I turned off auto record.

Maybe I'll check it out next year, though the odds of shows replacing major actors is just not very good re see weapon, lethal.

SO the fun begins

sounds like we should be getting behind the gossip from the show at some point in time. For those remember, I posted that supergirl would be moving to Vancover from LA about 6 months before it happened. The same people who told me that have now told me the RR wanted to move the show to either LA or NYC with some talk of maybe Atlanta--but that went nowhere

sounds like there is something beyond the normal why she wanted off the show

Ruby Rose's Batwoman Exit: The Story Behind Her Shocking Departure

“It wasn’t 100-percent her decision,” concedes a source close to the show. “It was a breakup. She wasn’t happy working on the show, and did that make her fun to work with? No. So everyone decided it would be in the best interests of the show, and for all concerned, if they parted ways. It just wasn’t a good fit.”

Last September, Rose shared (with a graphic video) that she had months prior undergone emergency surgery after herniating two discs while performing stunts on an unspecified project. She said the injury came close to severing her spinal cord, leaving her in “chronic pain.”

Seems she wasn't ready for the pressure of being the lead or the time it took to shoot the show, or the location. Plus the whole part about being in chronic pain after the surgery. Basically a combination of many things. When it comes to her work on the show from a viewer's point, she clearly wasn't the best actress on the show when it started. But as she grew into the role and especially post-Crisis, when Alice more or less manipulated Kate/Batwoman into killing the guy who "raised" and f***ed up Beth into becoming Alice, I began to feel more comfortable with her performances.

I am talking about the fan boys who want to keep the action hero leads all men with women there just as eye candy
If you want commercial / ratings success, women (on TV and in the movies) should be long on legs and short on syllables. Going against this rule hurt this series and Hollywood in 2019 with BOMBS like :

Batwoman
Charlie's Angels
Late Night
Miss Bala
The Rhythm Section
Gloria Bell
Booksmart
The Kitchen
Terminator - Dark Fate

and I could go on and on.

Hopefully they learn their lesson. Because money talks, my guess, they will.

If the content is good people will come doesn't matter if the hero is a female or male. Dark Fate was unnecessary. Stop messing with The Terminator, it worked twice, just leave it alone unless you want to actually do Robocop vs. Terminator and base it off the comic.

Charlie's Angels was too soon after the last movie series, had no advertising, and half the budget. I know Banks went on a men hating tirade but it was no different from the recent Hellboy reboot or even Justice League. You need to let properties breath and can't reboot or have 30 spinoffs every two to three years. There's enough Batman-related content all over the place now between Gotham which ended recently, Titans, Pennyworth, and even Suicide Squad/Birds of Prey. And they're making another Batman movie!

Batwoman was a risky idea. The character is fairly new and too easy to confuse with Batgirl for the general public, and also Cassandra Cain aka Orphan. Plus they picked an actress who is relatively inexperienced. Should have just went with Star Girl and went full in on that instead.

All of what you wrote is fair. I'd add...

1) They need to stop remaking male movies with women because it doesn't work. Remaking Ghost Busters with a female cast, redoing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with a female cast, redoing What Women Want with a female lead...

What's the point? It's stupid and then they are surprised when it doesn't work.

2) 90% of guys want to see a woman they are attracted to. We are visual creatures and that is NOT going to change. Having a hard looking, oddly featured Ruby Rose is NOT going to get guys to tune in. They didn't and now she's out.

Just like starring tom boy looking Kristen Stewart did not get guys to see Charlie's Angels, while having pretty Cameron Diaz shake her bum in 2000 did. It's NOT rocket science!

Simply put : Guys are NOT going to pay money to see Beanie Feldstein? NOT EVER!

3) Give us something completely original. How many times do they have to remake Emma or Little Women?

**

Hollywood spent a fortune making "female centric" movies in 2019 and people did NOT go to those movies - the proof is in the movies listed 2 posts above.

However, guys did go to see Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez playing a stripper. Hmmm... I wonder why.

That's a little unfair. She's a terrible actress and was ill-suited for this role.

She got better and comfortable in the role towards the end of the season. I watched several Youtubers reactions and reviews to the finale and season and they all said the same. Overall for the season, I'd say Boba Talks channel said it best. The show improved in the second half of the season and improved more in the second half of that half.

‘Batwoman’ Star Ruby Rose Exits Series Ahead of Season 2 – Variety

“Batwoman” season 1 averaged a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 after seven days of delayed viewing, putting it in a tie for third behind “The Flash” and the final season of “Arrow” in the CW rankings. Total viewership-wise, the show’s freshman season averaged 1.7 million viewers in Live+7, which again places it as the network’s third most-watched show.

Saying "no one watched it" is not true.

Not no one, but I imagine their actual target demo is just a smaller group than a show like Gotham for example, that's just a reality for the CW and their shows. It has had a slower initial start than the other CW shows though. I'll be curious if the Ruby Rose switch will give a boost or hurt it.
I'm sure it's NOT a cheap show to produce so they may have needed bigger numbers.

As Better Call Saul proved, guys will get into a smart, strong female character if they're attracted to her - see Kim Wexler.

I mean most stars/leads tend to be attractive, male or female. There are plenty of the ugly-ducklings on either side too that are successful too.

No offense, but I could care less what some "influencers" have to say. I think she is a terrible actress and detracted from the role. I'm not surprised it's more of a 50/50 split for her leaving. They can do better and the show will be better for it.

One last thing and this is going to sound homophobic but it's not. It's true...

Guys like to watch women they can imagine "being with". If you have a lesbian actress in the lead, a lot of guys won't be able to make that leap.

There's a reason Kristen Stewart does mostly indie films and has never made the (successful) leap to main stream. There's a reason Ellen Page's career went in the toilet after she came out. Of course, Portia De Rossi and a lots of other actresses, too.

90% of guys are very basic... We want pretty and we want fantasy. Don't try to overthink it.

I'm hoping Rebel Wilson will get cast in major female role soon, just to annoy ORRFForever.
LOL. What do I care? It's your show. If you want it to stay on the air, you may have to give male viewers what they want - even if it's not politically correct or what feminists believe in.
