I think the pertinent questions are can she act and who's writing the dialogue for her

I'm still shocked the show was renewed after season one

Looks like they are casting a brand new character: 'Batwoman' is replacing Ruby Rose's Kate Kane with a new character

That description is a real eye roller in my opinion.

The description for the new batwoman in your link :

Ryan Wilder is a female in her mid-late 20s and the complete opposite of Kate Kane. "She's likable, messy, a little goofy, and untamed," reads the document. "With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today, reformed and sober, Ryan lives in van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk from an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly disciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero."

Of course they would use an unisex name mostly used by men. The bolded parts were incredibly cringe, just awful.

Ugh, the first year of the show was bad, and the lead actress/character couldn't act her way out of a cardboard box. Now they're doubling down.

I gave up when it came to the storyline that bought Batwoman and Supergirl and all of them together and the acting was worse then a porn parody.

Who writes this crap? Awful. Prediction: This is going to get pilloried even more than the previous iteration.

That would some sort of effort because season one was an unmitigated disaster with off the scale levels of cringe

The character description is appalling. Someone said they are doubling-down and that's exactly right. They are going in the absolute wrong direction.

At the season's end it was by far the best CW DC show, especially the last 5ish episodes. They managed a quite remarkable turnaround post-Crisi and it's evident on the reactions on reviews and Youtuber's reactions. They, like I, were amazed at how much the show improved from a meh start. I'm not surprised it was the 3rd most watched CW DC show.

That's the opposite of what the ratings did, it started well but fell off to a massive degree by seasons end

I'm not in the target demographic but I found it almost unwatchabl, the writing and lead actor leave a lot to be desired imo

It did very well in the Live+7 ratings: ‘Batwoman’ Star Ruby Rose Exits Series Ahead of Season 2 – Variety

“Batwoman” season 1 averaged a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 after seven days of delayed viewing, putting it in a tie for third behind “The Flash” and the final season of “Arrow” in the CW rankings. Total viewership-wise, the show’s freshman season averaged 1.7 million viewers in Live+7, which again places it as the network’s third most-watched show.

When it started it had viewing numbers around 1.8M but had dropped off to 650K by seasons end, it had a bump after the crossover episodes but that didn't halt the steady decline of the show

Ruby Rose is an extremely limited actress but if the writing isn't sorted I don't see how viewership increases next season

Writing was much better at the end of the season.

Writing was much better at the end of the season.

It was still extremely average

Supergirl is also social justice orientated but it's had a successful run because it has a strong lead actress and the writing isn't quite as in your face as batwoman is

I think they should be pivoting to that model

Batwoman's wasn't even remotely "in your face" as the trailer and pilot made it seem. I didn't notice anything after the pilot.
