Coaching search discussion continued from Part1 and Part2. The latest? We're out on Babcock.

Looking forward to the first of the three annual Leafs floggings in downtown Buffalo next season.

What promotional item would be a good choice for the Toronto games to give to fans so they could chuck at Babcock???

puck night would be one...

I'm good. A hockey coach should never have too much power. If we had gotten him, and things went south, it would have been a hell of a mess.

Hilarious. Can't even be mad. Toronto never had the patience to bottom out. Toronto has some nice pieces right now but they don't have enough pieces. Now they will likely ship out Phaneuf and keep Kessel and still have a broken core of a team while not being quite terrible enough to pick high again this season. If Babcock did all of this you can't even be mad because how could you want that guy here deep down. He could have had the best of both worlds here and opted for some extra money and more management powers. What's even better if his boss will likely be Hunter and Shannahan.

The future
Call it sour grapes or whatever you want but i really hope that Toronto utterly fails under Babcock. How many times do we see a player or a coach run towards the money nad some ridiculous front loaded and long term contract only to under perform or miss the marked expectations? Hell, it could have happened here? Maybe we dodged a bullet? Not likely. Babcock is one hell of a coach.

I don't get this for either side.

Leafs said they are going to be entering a rebuild with a 3-5 year plan. Why have a coach who will be trying his hardest to win every game

Babcock: supposedly wants to win now. Good luck there Babs

After years at the Department of Player Safety, it's nice to see Shanahan finally hand out a number that everyone thinks is too high.

An infusion of jealously, anger, and betrayal -- just what our stale rivalry with Toronto needed.

Does Babcock really believe Toronto is close to being a contender? They're where we were in 2012 (ish?); treading in mediocrity. They need a rebuild in the worst way. What is so appealing about Toronto other than the contract they offered?

I can't help but think he'll be regretting his decision in 5 years from now, but perhaps those benjis will numb the pain.

Only one goal for this season. Finish ahead of Toronto. Flip middle finger as we sail by.
