You could google this. But ok.

He’s been on a good run. His skating and skill really suits the Avs transition game. He’s been getting and creating opportunities from this.

It’s hard to know if it’s simply a good run or whether he’s finally found a team that suits his strengths and a scenario where he might thrive more continuously.
I can google the stats, but that doesn't tell me much, I would rather ask people who care about the team he's playing in! I always thought he had some very good tools and great energy, the question is whether he could use it well in an NHL context. I like your team so I'm glad if it's working out well for you guys.

EDIT: thank you all for your input.

Lol Malgin in like a month and a half has surpassed Newhook on this team and probably factors more into their future plans than he does.

Unreal.

Anyways, Chicago stinks and the Avs probably should have put up 7 or 8 goals tonight. Stalock made some unreal saves yet gave up some horrible goals (Malgin's first one was atrocious angle work by him). Guess that's why he makes close to league minimum.

Onto the next one. I'd say Pittsburgh should be a real hungry team but they've been getting slapped around lately so I don't know which Penguins team will be showing up.
Stalock is so confusing he looks legit for long stretches and then gives up just the weakest goals.

MacK gonna toss his buddy Crosdog a bone and let them have this next one.

Some of you were worried about this game when Makar went out. Chortle. Given the years we endured of Chicago fans taking over the Can it's absolutely delicious that their highest scorer is Taylor Raddysh and they've got a bunch of other guys with names you'd find in the AHL in the 50s stinking the place out on a nightly basis. A team that can be taken down by a returning Kurtis MacDermid shooting ten feet wide should just pack up the season and save the cost to their dignity.

I hope this served as a warning to our management that the salary cap might lead to us ending up like that one day. Let's hope not.

Fantastic effort from Sammy tonight, the longer stick is helping! He even got a shoutout from NHL Network. That LOC goal was all him…and a wonderful no-look pass from Malgin…and a perfect one-timer from—you get my point.
Wait......I must have missed this. Did Girard start using a longer stick? And if so when did this happen?

Perhaps the biggest disappointment of this year is that it'll be the first time in six seasons that we won't have either directly ended St. Louis' season or at least had a significant hand in doing so, outside of their cup run which looks flukier by the day.

Wow. That isn't just some slight tinkering, that is a drastic shift. 5-6 inches longer than the previous stick he was using? Incredible. Probably took a little bit to get used to shooting with a longer stick.

I'm 5'8 but I've always used a much longer stick. Even on skates it comes up to my forehead. I just found it so much easier to make plays with a longer stick, especially when disrupting passes/dekes/etc.

Glad he made the switch. I always thought his stick was WAY too short for him on the ice to the point where he looked like he was crouched over trying to stickhandle.

Not to brag, but I was feeling lukewarm towards Malgin before it became popular.

You know when Jared says he sees him bringing a complete game he's in, for now.

With Erod out he'll get even more of a leash.

Not that Chucky has earned it yet, but it would be kinda fun to just plug him into Erod's spot, and see what happens.

If they don't put Newhook up there fairly quickly. I think we'll have our answer on at least what Bednar thinks. He threw Newhook up there late last game.

I still remain of the mindset that both Sammy and Josty would've benefited greatly had they just traded sticks. Sammy's was too short obviously and now he's benefiting, and Jost always looked so damned awkward trying to maneuver in tight spaces and battle in the corners with that goddamned tree branch he uses.

It's fun to end their season but it might even be more fun to end their run.

Bednar was rolling around the lines pretty good in the 3rd, but with Newhook playing next to JTC nothing positive was going to happen.

Playing Gally up the lineup could have enormous benefits comes the playoffs as we could have 4 really solid lines with Landy back.

Got to give George a shout out. I guess I really haven't followed the stats too much, but he's right there with the best in the league. Considering he's had an unreal work load because Frank has been hurt a lot, George has been a wall for us.

2nd in wins, top 5 sv%, tied for 1st in shutouts. Just been very solid and consistent for us.
I don't think he will get consideration even if he keeps it up, he's flying so much under the radar. But he should.

That's alright, I threw up a little there last night when that happened too.

I wonder if everyone seen what we did with Kumpy dumpy and just assumes we can still carry goalies.

He's gotta get some nods though when the vote happens.

You mean where he got blown up with a hit to the head even though he never touched the puck, and then got immediately called for tripping on a clean hit?

Remember when the media used to say NHL refs are the best refs in sports? I haven't heard anyone say that in like a decade lol. They don't say it anymore for a reason. They might literally be the worst refs in sports. Every year they get worse too. They've been awful this year.

Weird how the league removing any accountability for refs, by muzzling everyone, and fining people $25k for any criticism, correlates with refs not caring enough to get better at their jobs, and actually getting worse.

Malgin is basically Jeff Skinner on a 4th liner contract lol.
They're certainly both amazing skaters. Jeff Skinner I know did do figure skating as a kid. I don't know if Malgin did but it's likely since his mother Nelja is a former figure skater. He didn't specify but in interviews his father Albert, who's a hockey coach, said Denis was skating from the age of four.
