In fairness Johansen needed a break after that two minute shift he had. Poor guy's lucky to be alive.
Lol forgot about that if he didn't suck so hard he'd been closer to 8 mins instead of 9:30. Holy shit that shift was so bad. 3 terrible players hopelessly floating around never coming close to getting the puck. Honestly surprised it didn't end in a goal, if I recall George bailed them once or twice, which was a miracle in itself.

Overall mid game by us against a so so opponent, at least they figured out how to get a win.

Not surprised that Lehk and Colton were the best players. Lehk has had a knack for being clutch, and Colton has won 2 Cups and knows what it takes to win.

Top guys struggled again, trying to be way too cute. Over passing, playing on the perimeter, and taking poor shots when they do get a look. 29 and 96 have to be better than what they've shown the past 5.

I find it hilarious that Bednar is sending management a silent but obvious message every game that there are like 3 guys RyJo, Kivaranta, and Olofsson that can't play at the NHL level. Throw in Cogs and Parise who are clearly at the end of their career. You've got 5 guys playing every night that aren't NHLers or providing very little. Landy (if he even plays) and Nuke aren't changing the dumpster fire at forward.

Not sure how much more obvious Bednar can be on RyJo he got like 9 mins last night and was stapled to the bench for most of the 3rd. Good on Bednar to do what's right instead of feeling obligated to play him because that was CMac's BS attempt at 2C. Makes CMac look worse by the game.
Bednar is not sending silent and obvious messages to CMac through players' TOI. He is just deploying players the best way he sees fit to win games. I'm sure any message he has on players are passes on to CMac in meetings and telephone calls.

He's not even allowed to talk to the trainers, what makes you think he's got CMac's phone number?

Good for Byram getting a couple points. Hopefully helps his confidence a bit.

Thought Bo played a pretty good game outside the points too. He continues to be their 5v5 workhourse along with Toews too. They're 1 and 2 on the season in 5v5 time, witch Toews currently averaging just 7 seconds more.

Bo played a much more confident game in this one though, which is no coincidence. Was assertive, played on his toes, wanted to join the rush and be an option, distributed the puck well, held in pucks at the blueline, and made some solid defensive plays, especially his step ups in the neutral zone.

I thought his game against the Panthers was pretty good too, despite his analytics which get heavily impacted by his pair getting matched with the RyJo line. Cale and Toews get the top line, G and Manson get the Colton line which is great at possession in the O zone, and Bo and JJ get stuck with RyJo who often gets hemmed in his own zone and gives up a bunch of shots.

Girard struggled a bit in this one. Had multiple mistakes that Bo would get ripped apart for, including on goals. Started toward the end of last game too which is interesting. Almost like him and Bo aren't allowed to play well at the same time.

Would love to see both start playing well though. If they do, and Toews and Makar don't have a dip in play, look out. This team will be dominant again. After Nate and Cale individually, the play of the D core as a whole drives the Avs success.

Wasn’t able to watch the third.

Avs played well enough to win but also made some mindblowingly bad mistakes. Lucky for them the Caps are an atrocious team but a win is a win I suppose. Certainly not going to say anything bad about the Roaring 20s with the Finnish stand-in tonight, they were awesome.

Also thought this was one of Byram’s better games.
Avs cake-walked the third and allowed the Caps to come back in. Ovie scored and then a minute or two later could've had another one where it hit the post. That was probably their closest chance, but they (Caps) were the better team until the last 5-8 minutes when it turned even and allowed Avs to score the first of the empty netters. It was a pretty boring game overall, but I agree that Byram was excellent last night.

That comment was in response to Chet saying that we basically have 5 forwards that have little TOI therefore Bednar sending a silent message to CMac he needs help.
