And matthews isnt half as good as mcdavid offensively.

Should even out.

More than twice as many goals and 81% as many points. Imagine being so insecure you had to bring McDavid up in a discussion about defensive play when he's had one single season with good defensive stats?

I'm not insecure.

I'm just using your logic against you.

Look at the teams they play on, Toronto scores more goals, its no wonder hes close to him in points.

Or am I not doing this right?

Edmonton is 5th in the NHL in goals against this season with 226

Toronto is 11th with 250

But we still see the following in McDavid's first decent defensive season vs. Matthews 5th...

Shots Against:

1. Matthews: 24.04 (2nd)
2. McDavid: 27.15 (3rd)
3. MacKinnon: 28.85 (9th)
4. Kucherov: 30.24 (19th)

Goals Against:

1. Matthews: 2.24 (3rd)
2. MacKinnon: 2.74 (17th)
3. McDavid: 2.76 (18th)
4. Kucherov: 3.47 (29th)

5v5 Goal Differential (and rank out of the 31 NHL forwards with 1100 + minutes):

1. Matthews: 64.13 (1st)
2. MacKinnon: 61.53 (3rd)
3. McDavid: 60.61 (6th)
4. Kucherov: 51.44 (23rd)

Matthews

89 hits
91 shot blocks
84 takeaways
52 giveaways

McDavid

116 hits
38 shot blocks
68 takeaways
82 giveaways

Some of your numbers seem off, those 5v5 goal differential - or GF% numbers aren't accurate. Also it's funny that you made the cut off 1100 to remove Barkov, JT Miller and a good number of other players with a better GF%, have to get your boy to 1st! Either way, you said McDavid isn't half the defensive player of Matthews which isn't remotely true this year and all your numbers do is back that up even further.

Weird how you didnt post any of the scoring chance metrics.

I wonder why that would be.

and your 5v5 differential is wrong.

McDavid is at 61.64%, Matthews is at 62.79%

Leafs are trash right now. Really hope Matthews gets his 70th. I hope he becomes a little more selfish and aggressive. Hes made a few plays and has looked to pass. Admirable but I want 70! Lol

Bro, did you just TLDR my two paragraphs and then wrote your own book?

Oh wait … maybe you were TLDR’ing yourself?

Anyways I read it, nice post
Bro… as others have remarked, you continue to react first, read second and comprehend at your own relaxed leisure.

Mark this for your own growth… I was actually agreeing with you in part. The game of course IS progressing, but at least wrt goaltending, it’s more equipment than talent or at least it is equipment allowing talent.

But with respect to your continued confusion (and with reference to my slightly assertive opening) the FIRST THREE WORDS of my TLDR were: IN MY OPINION… ie it’s me speaking here.

Slow down… understand more

Last thing leafs should worry about is 70 goals.

That defence and goaltending is total garbage.

Swept in first round.

Didn’t you just do what you accused me of doing?

I wrote what I wrote for comedic effect, I thought it was funny. I ended by complimenting you.

Maybe that went over your head

I wonder if they'll play Matthews tomorrow. Would look weird chasing an individual milestone in a completely meaningless back to back just a couple of days prior to playoff start while at the same time 70 goals is so special that it would suck if he wasn't given the chance if he wants to.

Babcock sure wouldn't dress him lol.

Just wasn't going to go in for him tonight.

You can tell it's a distraction for the team at this point. It's good these games don't really matter for the leafs.

Was it weird when McDavid got his 100th assist on the 9th goal of a 9-1 game against San Jose? Okay maybe a little
