The Kamloops Blazers would like to introduce, from St. Boniface, Manitoba, a player who wore the same helmet for all his life and a catalyst of the Islanders dynasty, Robert «Butch» Goring.

The 4th line pivot of the Silver Knights will be "Beaver", the HHOF-inducted Lady Byng who went just before I was gonna draft him in ATD 2021. Mr. Edgar Laprade.
...a play-making center with great speed and athleticism. He was a tremendous defensive player as well, making him one of the greatest two way centers in NHL history. A strong back checker and prolific penalty killer, Laprade perfected the "poke check" as an effective strategy.

I took Doug Jarvis after he was gone, happy to get the best face-off artist, but sad at losing the strength, speed and checking ability of Laprade. I am so stoked now. This is my most satisfying REDUX pick.

Choice between two defenseman this round but I’ll go Pat Egan even though he’s the more unknown quantity to me because I like that he seems to have been noted for both his defensive game and offensive game aside from his physical play claim to fame. Could always use multitalented players to fill in for the usual guys offensively even though I want a primarily defensive defenseman here.

Also love that he got a lifetime suspension that was overturned in a week lol

Probably will slot him with my other original six guy Quackenbush for both the best familiarity of era and playstyle as well as the obvious compliment Egan is to Quackenbush.

Am I the first one to call Madden a C/LW here? I kind of regret it.

The only way that I would play Madden at LW is if I was desperate to get 2 PK centers out of my 4th line. And I would accept that his game would be discounted at ES.

That reminds me of another player I think you started the trend of saying he could play two positions and that is Shane Doan. There’s the one quote saying he would be an appealing choice for team Canada because he can play both wings, but did he ever actually play LW in the NHL? Also he didn’t get picked for the team in favor of an undrafted LW.

Edit: I really liked the idea of Doan with Larionov and Bauer, but wasn’t confident he could play LW

Iirc, Doan played LW in some WCs but its been a long time since I looked into it.

I thought about benching him as the 13th forward drafted early.

He ain't kickin' Joe Malone to the curb.

He's a bit of a tweener in an 8-team draft.

I mean, based on this thread, McDavid would be one of the better 2nd line centers in this thing: If the Top 100 players All-time list is redone today, where does McDavid's career place him?

But then, the ATD is a little less forgiving on flawed players than All-Time lists would be.

I still probably would have saved room for him if I thought I actually had a chance of drafting him this round. Just assumed the 1st or 2nd GM this round would take him
