My take:
1) Bowman Job approval rating? 5/10 for this year only. He made some decent moves on paper, but in practice a lot of the moves haven't really worked that well. The team still has goatse-sized holes in spite of him performing his best horse-trading act for the cameras.
2) Colliton Job approval rating? 3/10. I seriously doubt if he ever had the room. I think a lot of the woes of the team (including a -215 shot differential as of this posting) can be blamed on his systems and their execution.
3) Buy, Sell, or Hold at the TDL as of the ASB? I would say hold or sell. Recent streak notwithstanding the team D is still an Achilles heel which, in my estimation, will require multiple pieces at D and FWD to fix. Unless it was, say, Kane on the move, I doubt we'd acquire this as buyers. Couple this with how the team in 2017 folded like lawn furniture after March, I stand by my assertion that the team shouldn't mortgage their rebuild for a deep run into the playoffs.
4) Do you sell Gustafsson no matter what? I would say yes, unless it's a negative return. The guy is still just a 13th fwd and on a team which has no defense that's a liability. Maybe not at the TDL, but I think we need to let him go.
5) Trade Crawford? If he waives, hits on one of the 10-team trade-to's, the return is non-negative, and Lehner re-signs I'd be okay with it.
6) If one of the following players has to be sacrificed this summer, who do you choose?
Kubalik
Strome
Lehner
I'm torn between Lehner and Strome. Lehner on one hand should command somewhere between 8 for 4 and 7 for 5 (using Crawford's 2015 deal as a comparable)--which is expensive but until we get a competent team D we might just need that--assuming he wants back. Anything more and it may just have to bite the bullet with someone lesser in net until prospects turn out. Strome, while good, hasn't been "contract year looking to solidify the #2C position" good. I think his salary requirements will determine that. I'd like to keep them both, but if they price themselves out we might just have to deal.

Kubalik needs to be re-signed. 21 goals in 49 games (.429 G/G) is 2nd on the team only to Kane (.490 G/G). No one else is breaking .400. Saad is closest at .333. Someone has to actually finish and Kubalik is 2nd best on the team.

1) Bowman Job approval rating? 7/10 - Hit on DeHaan, Dach, Carpenter and Lehner - Missed on Shaw, Nylander, and Maatta is meh to me.
2) Colliton Job approval rating? 7/10 - Tried his own system at beginning of year, failed miserably, but he gets a positive for listening to others and changing it after it didn't work
3) Buy, Sell, or Hold at the TDL as of the ASB? Hold, try to make the playoffs, get experience for the kids, but no way are they doing damage in the playoffs.
4) Do you sell Gustafsson no matter what? Yes, see if you can tradehim for another UFA Dman that is more defensive
5) Trade Crawford? Depends what you can get, if someone offers a 2nd or more, yes.
6) If one of the following players has to be sacrificed this summer, who do you choose?
Kubalik
Strome <- Dach can take over #2C role next year, plus can get a really good return for him.
Lehner

1) Bowman Job approval rating? 6/10 I dont like the Nylander for Joki trade one bit, the anisimov for smith trade is a wash save some cap get a worse player in return, the kahun trade for maatta is a wash as of now. I would have rather have joki and kahun then nylander and maatta. I like the dach pick so far. the debrincat extension seems fair. the dehaan trade worked for a bit but we found why he was available for that price. Lehner great signing. Trading back for shaw not working out. Kubalik good pickup and carp solid pickup. I think hes trying to win now and at this time they are out of the playoffs so cant go above a 6.

2) Colliton Job approval rating? 6/10 I think hes a replacement level head coach. I dont think hes done anything to help the team or hurt the team in the long run. Hes mehhh right now to me.

3) Buy, Sell, or Hold at the TDL as of the ASB? To early to tell but my gut says hold or sell depending on how this next stretch goes.

4) Do you sell Gustafsson no matter what? I want to get value for him no matter what if they do not plan to resign him this offseason. Our young defenseman coming in should be able to take over his offensive role and his defensive play is a major issue with the minutes he gets.

5) Trade Crawford? If the right deal is on the table. Depends what is happening with lehner.

6) If one of the following players has to be sacrificed this summer, who do you choose?
Kubalik
Strome
Lehner

Whoever gets the most value returned compared to what they bring. I dont want to lose kubalik. Strome has done nothing but produce but his style of play and how much he will make seems like it may become an issue down the road. Lehner im fine with keeping or selling.

Extend Lehner Kubalik and Strome...Means CC and Saad have to go..but whether you trade Saad at TDL or before the draft depends on where Hawks are at the TDL..

Also if Hawksxare right there in contention forca wildcard you keep Gus for the remaibderbifvthecseason then let him walk free and get nothing back..You cannot lose Gus in any wildcard chase Hawks are in after the TDL ..We are too thin at D to risk that. The better bet is to let him go for nothing on the chance Hawks can get to a playoff spot with him...because Mitchell may not be available to replace Gus for that run after the TDL...Mitchell may or may not be available if he decides not to go back for his Senior Year until Denver is eliminated wins the FrozenFour and the Frozen Four Semi-Finals and Final do not take place till After Hawks regukarcseasom discover. So Mitchell unless Denver gets eliminated earlier in the Reguonals ) may not he able to be signed unless it is for next season.. he may not be eligible for playoffs...With such uncertainty on the timing or even if he leaves school early after his current season is over,we can't risk depleting our d-corps by trading Gus without a replacement like Mutxhell on hand.

As to trading Cc...again if Hawkscoutvofvit by TDL ...yes.. it ifvroght there...no..need insurance in case Lehner goes down with injury..Best bet is to pkay the goLuevibsurance card now ..and try to see if a club bites for right to talk to C in late June before he goes ufa July 1st.

Al's of Lehner not extended by then.. it means Hawks extend Cc ..

Thus Cc is double insurance for not possibly being able to play Lehner in a playoff run or a playoff should he get injured...plus insurance if the extending Lehnernolan goes awry.

The only trades TDL could be Saad and Gus IF and only IF Hawks are clearly out of a realistic wildcard spot chase in the games after the TDL.

They cannot afford to throw in the towel this year purely from a team psyche standpoint. They need to get back into the habit of making the playoffs.

Exactly. Unless we fall off of a cliff in the next 11 games it'd send a terrible message to everyone to punt on another season. I don't even care if the Hawks make the playoffs or not. If you're close then you have to try. If that means missing out on a couple 2nd's and 3rd's from trading Gus and Crow then so be it.

1) Bowman Job approval rating

7.5/10. Nylander has been nowhere near good enough to justify his acquisition at the cost of Jokiharju and it's compounded by him trading for an injury prone DeHann who inevitably became injured. Lehner has been a stud, i've liked most of what i've seen from Maatta, Smith, Carpenter, and of course Kubalik.

2) Colliton Job approval rating

6.5/10 I guess. The Hawks playing so well now makes me wonder why they were playing like the Ottawa f***ing Senators for the first 40 games of the season. Is that stubborn players not buying in? Is that Colliton not being able to get his players to buy in because he's not a good enough coach? I don't know. The Hawks are winning lately though and it looks like they're playing structured hockey in doing so. The PK has been fantastic. The PP has been atrocious. Correct me if i'm wrong, but they're also not giving up a ton of shots/game like they were earlier in the season.

3) Buy, Sell, or Hold at the TDL as of the ASB?

Hold. Selling is a bad idea for reasons mentioned above in my previous post. Buying is a bad idea because the team is not winning a Cup and other than Stan/JC's job security...making the playoffs isn't a must.

4) Do you sell Gustafsson no matter what?

No. I'd rather lose him for nothing than get a middling package for him. He can be a good player, keep him and let him do his thing.

5) Trade Crawford?

Absolutely not. If Lehner were extended it would be one thing, but he's not so no. I'd bet that good goaltending has kept us in a lot more games than we realise. Having two #1's splitting starts is a good thing and the returns goalies get in trades isn't exactly breathtaking.

6) If one of the following players has to be sacrificed this summer, who do you choose?
Kubalik
Strome
Lehner

I don't think any will. If Lehner gets re-signed it'll most likely mean Crawford is gone. Kubalik isn't going to command a huge contract just because he pots 25 goals this year. Strome's play has hardly warranted a DeBrincat level deal, I have no doubt he can be re-signed for under $5m AAV

1) Bowman 6.5/10
2) Colliton 7.5/10 - half the roster is new this season; he's had to play 5-6 rookies most nights and the games missed by regulars Murphy (12), Keith (9) Cags (29), Saad (12), Strome (11), Shaw (25), DeHaan/Seabrook have been significant.
3-6) Trades depend on the return and re-signings on the cost. Big gray area. If you can get a pick 5-35 in return, your answer probably would be different than if the pick was 60-90. I think you can re-sign Kubalik to a team friendly deal. Lehner is almost a must. If you assume an average goalie will cost $3-4 mil, paying a premium for RL seems worth it. Strome would be third most important of the three.

I expect that by the TDL, Hawks playoff hopes will be very slim. They have 11 games before then; probably need to go 7-4 because immediately after the TDL they're @ StL and @ TB. If they are buyers, I don't want them moving a future asset without getting one in return.

Utter ****ing nonsense.
Not at all. He was a PP specialist last year, and isn't even on the #1PP anymore. Constantly loses his guy in his own zone. He is on the ice for more GA that are a result of his issues than he is on the ice for GF that he is a key part of.

Boqvist easlily replaces him, and when Mitchells season is done, he can easily replace the loss of Gus assuming we make the playoffs..

I ask everyone the following questions, because I can't create a poll for all of them:
1) Bowman Job approval rating?
2) Colliton Job approval rating?
3) Buy, Sell, or Hold at the TDL as of the ASB?
4) Do you sell Gustafsson no matter what?
5) Trade Crawford?
6) If one of the following players has to be sacrificed this summer, who do you choose?
Kubalik
Strome
Lehner

EDIT: Since this was confusing to some, consider Bowman and Colliton's job performance solely from the 2019 draft and the beginning of this season to present day respectively.

Also as an addendum:
If someone needs to be sacrificed to keep all 3 of Lehner/Strome/Kubalik, who do you sacrifice and how?

1) 6/10
2) 5/10
3) Anything but a big time buy is fine. Don't mortgage the future. I see value in making the playoffs though.
4) If you can get a 1st I think you need to move him.
5) Only if thats what he wants.
6) All depends on what contract they all want and would sign for. But I guess I'd say Kubaliak.

He's looked pretty good ever since the Hawks turned things around the past 8 games. Who slides in to replace him with Seabrook and CdH also gone?
He has looked better, but for how long?

I suggested trading him for a more defensive responsible UFA Dman, but I wouldn't just give him away for anything you can get.

Haven’t seen much of that at all for a large chunk of the season.

He is on the ice for more GA that are a result of his issues than he is on the ice for GF that he is a key part of.

Disagree

Mitchells season is done, he can easily replace the loss of Gus

Mitchell hasn’t played a single NHL shift yet.

Seems like we’re seeing different things when we watch games. Gus has been fine to good for much of the season IMO

I keep hearing this from people and I think you're all crazy.

Strome ppg since being traded to the Hawks: .83
Toews ppg in his career: .87

EDIT: Not saying that Strome is anywhere as good as Toews, because the Captain brings so much more to the table, but he's not that far off from him offensively.

Now for the actual comparables:

Laine in last 2 seasons of ELC: .75 ppg
Willie Nylander in last 2 seasons of ELC: .77 ppg

Strome as a Blackhawk: .83 ppg

If you include what Strome did in AZ: .73 ppg in his last two seasons of his ELC.

I could absolutely see Strome ask for 6.5-7 AAV and if the Hawks don't give it to him, someone else will after they trade him. In terms of point production, he's right there with Laine and Willie Nylander.
How many games did he play in the NHL before getting to the Hawks? 48. I can see them asking them to completely ignore what he did in Arizona.

They're going to use Laine and W. Nylander as a comparable and you can't really argue. Anyone that thinks that Strome is signing under $6M is crazy.

Lol, if Strome's camp brings Toews comparables to the negotiating table, Stan should immediately laugh them out of the room and ship Strome somewhere where he can be irrelevant again.

I'm not even saying that, I actually used comparables that Strome can point to. Similar 1 dimensional players like Laine and Willie Nylander. He compares well to them. That was an addendum to show everyone exactly how good he's been at scoring since he got traded here. The actual comparables are below in the next section.

Serious question though, did you read the last sentence or two of the post?

couple and 2nds and 3rds could be the difference between being a contender in 2-3 years or just being in the playoffs. Those extra assets could be huge in deadline aquisitions or players (oduya (traded for with a 2nd), debrincat, mitchell, saad, bolland, bickell). The psyche of making moves to build towards a championship is what im worried about. but i also understand where your coming from.

Nylander is not close to a 1 dimensional player.

Nylander is not close to a 1 dimensional player.
also strome has 34 career goals. laine averages 34.5 per season for 4 years and is a year younger. yes i know laine def has his faults but strome doesnt exactly excel in those areas either.
