Iirc, the Penguins were fairly young when they got their cup a couple years ago. Same with many of the big guns in LA and Chicago.

True for Chicago. Ladd had a cup, good old John Madden had two and Hossa had been to the SCF finals the two previous years.

Same for Boston. Recchi and Thornton had rings, I believe only Ference and Kelly went to the 4th round.

But LA was had a ton of playoff experience. Carter, Richards, Gagné, Stoll, Greene all went to the SCF before, Penner and Williams won a cup, Scuderi had a cup + 1 SCF.

My point though is that we are very, very inexperienced and the only two guys with legit playoff experience could be gone next year. Yes we will grow, we will gain experience but we do not have 4-5 + years to get it like we did from 1999-2007. The window closes really fast in the cap era. We cannot afford to wait until all our young guys are out of their ELC or their 2nd contract.
