If anyone is worth it, it's McDavid. Still, stupid money and length. Most teams can not afford these contracts, and sooner than later, these teams will be in cap hell.

I'm pretty sure the 8 X 13.25 McDavid's agent's starting figure, they will probably end up around 9-10 million

Put me down for zero as the chance of Mcdavid signing under $10 million and over 90% at Mcdavid being Leagues highest paid player this summer.

Well, if Edmonton can afford it, go for it, but I don't see them taking this initial "offer." BTW, I was thinking more along of what he ends up cap hit wise, not including signing bonuses.

Where are you getting the info that this is Camp McDavid's "initial offer"? Everything I've read says this is the negotiated number and it's just lockout year and details being finalized.

#CBJ have notified LW Scott Hartnell that they'll buy out the remaining two years of his contract.

Tempting to have on the Coyotes.

Next summer if you want to get technical. He's still on his ELC for 2017-18.

Yeah, the rumors make it sound like this is the final figure, or close to it.

I think he's a guy who would take a lot less money to sign with a contender. He's only 35, but he's been in the NHL and incredible 17 years already. I could see him taking an absolute bottom barrel contract with the Pens, Preds, Caps, Ducks, Wild, Hawks, etc.

I was going off of the NHL headline, but I have to admit that I didn't read it. I just figured it was typical agent blather.

I rarely do any research, I just shoot from the hip

All rumors at this point, but it seems these 4 are locks:

Brian Elliott to Philly

Steve Mason to Winnipeg

Ryan Miller to Anaheim

Chad Johnson to Buffalo

Hopefully with Coyotes 5.0 we don't get absolutely stoned by Miller every time we play him anymore. Those games against Vancouver have been some of the most frustraiting over the past couple seasons.

Scandella and Pominville to Buffalo.

How were we not all over this? I know Scandella may not have been the PP specialist we need, but taking Pominville (which also fills a RW need) and sending back Martinook and say Schenn seems like a much better deal.

Maybe Minnesota just didn't want to send him somewhere in the conference.

Panthers are buying out Jokinen, so there is more money cut by Florida. Also another wing spot open.

Pominville has a 20 team no trade list. The options may have been limited for Minny. Pominville played in Buffalo for a decade before moving to Minny, so not surprising he's okay going back there.

I'm wondering if a possible Rieder for Demers deal may be in the works (if Demers is willing). Not sure what else would need to be involved in this deal, but it would definitely sort things out for us and the panthers.

Demers is kind of a cap dump. Any teams that take on over paid players, don't have to give up too much for them. I think we can get Demers without giving up Reider or Crouse. Maybe McGinn and late picks?

Yes, he may be more of a dump, but with other pieces being involved, we need to figure out our LW logjam. I realize Rieder played RW aplenty in the last 1/3 of the season (roughly), but he is more defensive (although that might change with a new coach) and kind of one of the "Tippett leftovers" on the roster who seems to be destined for 4th or 3rd line duty. If we moved McGinn, we'd probably have to retain 40-50% of his contract for Florida to be interested (straight up would only save them 1.2 million per year for two years whereas Rieder would save them 2.3 million next season).

Anyway, I'll stop there since this should probably be in another thread
