In all honesty, the title wasn’t meant to be serious. I simply couldn’t think of one before posting it. Although, it’s a pretty loaded statement.

Does the league really need 1+ month for Phase 2? I realize there are likely hold-ups dealing with the various level of governments, but they should be much further ahead than they are as it pertains to choosing the hub cities and having a solid date to start training camps.

if this is true, just cancel the season...that’s ridiculous....

Yeah it's ridiculous at this point. They need to just grow up and cancel the season and maybe just start the off season and hold a camp and all that jazz. If anything start the season in September and fix the schedule so they don't keep wanking about with the crazy amount of back to backs.

They essentially needed to figure this out 2 months ago with phase 2 already going. They're so behind at this point it's just ridiculous.

Don't bother going on the main board thread -- a bunch of disgusting comments almost immediately.

Mainboard is racist as hell and I have never felt comfortable speaking about racism there or anything of that sort, being black, no thanks. I like the inclusiveness here, outside of a couple of members.

Racism and misogyny are pretty rampant on the main boards.

The shit I read during the women’s game at the All-Star festivities had me as pissed as I’ve ever been on this board.

If they keep having to push the season for phase 2, it's just constant delays now. I want it to start too but it's like oh July 10? Wait now it's August 1st?

Edit: I'm a wanker. I missed the sarcasm.

I really don’t want to trade away fall and early winter hockey to have this silly tournament.

Getting frustrating as hell.

They want to start next season as late as possible to maximise revenues. They’ll be hoping for the vaccine and things to return as much as normal for as much of next season as possible

We’ve already lost that hockey and as @Tom Hanks points out this is hoping they can recoup some arena money.

Basing their hopes on a vaccine by the end of the year, and people rushing back to fill their arenas, seems ultra optimistic.

I doubt there is any type of real normal until the 21-22 season.

The road to herd immunity even with a vaccine, is likely to be a long one.

How can people take this in a bad way? Good on them. I think my only thought is... NHL did have an initiative on their own. Is that not supported? I actually thought the NHL and Willie O'Ree teamed up to do some great things for kids and what not? He came to Pittsburgh one time, I believe after the unfortunate shooting, and f***ing dude could speak. Incredible leader.

But he if they wnat to all join forces and make it better? Let's go. Let's take that as a positive.

Still gotta plan for a better case scenario.

New Zealand just had a rugby game with no crowd restrictions. Obviously they are far, far, far ahead of North America at this stage.

My guess is they have to wait to see where new hot spots develop with travel opening up, ie Vegas opening the casinos? Yikes.

You absolutely must have competent leadership within your country to expect this better case scenario they are hoping for.

I can’t take this comment any deeper without breaking my promise to Cole, so I’ll leave it at that.

Yeah personally I think they should cancel the season and start next season when they regularly do (if it’s safe to do so and the science backs it up). Focus strategies on the best way to make money without crowds and wait for it to go back to normal.

We aren’t behind the scenes so no clue on what the owners are saying to Bettman. He has to at least show he’s supporting their views.

I just took a look at the US COVID numbers some places are getting there others are still in a world of ****.

Ya whatever happens, happens.

It’s just going to blow with no NHL in the fall.

I read that as Jiggy and was like WTF? @Mr Jiggyfly

I doubt anyone wants to see pics of me, should have been your first clue.
