I think Minnesota fans were delusional on the value of Scandella to begin with. He's not an impact defenseman and he makes $4M. The talk of 1st's and top prospects was absolutely insane IMO.

His offense fell off hard last year but Jokinen is still a good player. I always remember him as a good match-up guy when he played us.

cap world coming in a year where the cap barely jumped at all, teams scrambling for any monies they can

The cap has barley moved the past few years. Each of the past four years it's only gone up 2 mil per year:

14-15 69
15-16 71.4
16-17 73
17-18 75

it's just this year it seems there are far more buyouts then I can recall pre-july 1.

It's hard to believe that this division actually looks worse than it was last year.

Buffalo upgraded today so they might be in the hunt, Toronto is only going to get better.

Montreal might be forced to do the unthinkable and trade Price especially if he signals he doesn't think he can win a Cup there. They have no prospects of note in the pipeline.
