Interesting tidbit on the NHL network with speculation their could be 4 divisions next year including a entire Canadian division to avoid cross border travel. Sounds like they would mainly play each other under this scenario. What would the other 3 divisions look like?

That'd be rough if we had to play Boston and TB plus some of the Metro

NHL will cash in on new TV, streaming rights deals despite 2020 ratings decline (paywall)
The strange and unprecedented sports season roiled by a ratings-gobbling pandemic could actually give the National Hockey League a boost in its talks for its next national U.S. television rights deal, according to an industry insider.

“It might actually bolster the NHL’s case. Even with some of its worst numbers of all time, it helped NBCSN to one of its best-ever third quarters. (NBC was) better off having the NHL than it would have been otherwise,” said Sports Media Watch founder Jon Lewis, who has monitored and analyzed sports audience ratings since 2006.

Talks are ongoing to extend the NHL’s 10-year, $2 billion broadcast rights deal with NBC that ends after the 2021 season. The league’s 12-year, $4.9 billion Canadian TV rights contract with Rogers Communications ends in 2026.

The ratings aren't great but expectations are for a solid increase. The next US TV deal could also be spread across several networks similar to the NFL and NBA. ESPN, Fox Sports, and Turner Sports are reportedly interested.

Gaglardi has the same kind of core businesses as Pegula but he doesn't own an NFL team or petroleum business. They also have conflict within the organization, with the fanbase and with sponsors over their handling of BLM. They might need to bring in more authentic management.

Wow, Marchand out 4 months and Pasta out 5 months after surgeries. What an opportunity to make the playoffs. Get a goalie is the new, we need a 2C.
Nobody has mentioned a potential hangover for Tampa considering their grueling run and the inevitable roster moves they'll need to make.

Inside Carolina’s war room for the draft, free agency and the NHL’s wildest week

When Dundon moves the discussion to adding a skilled forward via free agency or trade, Brind’Amour quickly points out it doesn’t make sense to make those kinds of moves if it comes at the expense of the team’s considerable defensive depth.

There is discussion of another skilled player on an Eastern Conference team who may have fallen out of favor for not returning to summer training camp in great shape.

“We’re working hard to not bring guys like that in here,” Brind’Amour pipes in.

I am stunned that Rod the Bod doesn't want any lazy, out of shape players on the Canes.

According to multiple sources, several agents and general managers tried to build support the last few weeks for the addition of a compliance buyout to ease the crunch and create flexibility. (A compliance buyout, which does not count against the cap, was part of both the 2005 and 2013 negotiations.) However, the plan failed for the same reason it failed during CBA negotiations — who was going to pay for it?

If Irwin is the third LHD on this team, I'm going to punch a wall. He's a useful 8th defensemen. However, go out and act like a team, don't settle for scraps. Move Montour, for someone that makes sense.

I think there are too few teams on the market that will need a third pair RD with a salary of almost four million. At the same time, Vatanen and Hamonic are still without a team and do not need to give assets for them.

Who are the Sabres governor and alternate governor?

One has to assume he/she is in on the 2020-21 COVID realignment discussions, unless they are being done by Jacobs, Dolan, Comcast, MLSE, Rogers, Chicago, and Detroit, with the rest of the NHL just bending over to take it.
I think it’s Kim Pegula but not 100% sure
