Hindsight is a funny thing. I'll admit that today Shea Weber looks better than P.K. Subban and if we had a chance to take one of them back for free this season, it would be Weber. But the Preds also don't win the West in 2017 without making that trade and the roster would look much different, worse IMO, today if we had kept Weber.

But the hilarious amount of posters now saying that they foresaw this scenario is too unbelievable. I also think it has more to do with Subban's training and (lack of) injury recovery, rather than his off-ice endeavors.

Well and let's not forget, Weber essentially missed a huge chunk of two seasons which means less recent wear and tear.

Thing is with Weber is you don't know how long it will last. Weber has a lot to do in my mind the next season or two just to get back to what Subban gave us those couple of years.

Babcock asked Mitch Marner to make a list ranking the team's roster in respect to effort in their previous game due to a percieved lack of effort from Marner. Babcock then used that list against other players on the team.

I'm sympathetic to how hard being a coach at the NHL level likely is. Most of these guys are single in their early to late 20s making huge sums of money. I understand the need for a a coach to hold players' accountable, but there is a fine line that can easily turn into bullying and harassment. I think Babcock clearly crossed the line here. That's a terrible thing to do to any player but especially a rookie.

So the Habs lost 8-1 but Weber got the one goal and has 8 on the season. 8G 11A in 24 games. Hope he stays healthy and scores 30 goals.

Plus we could put to bed all of the talk about recapture. It would be well worth overpaying to bring him back.

HOWEVER...

That pesky expansion draft is looming and bringing Weber back this year or next means exposing Ellis, Ekholm or Fabbro. So, I'm guessing it's a no on Weber for the time being. 2021 can't come fast enough so that we don't have to factor in protection status for trade considerations.

He apparently also had another incident of some kind while in Carolina that Francis apparently dealt with and Brindamour confirmed. Apparently the former owner knew nothing about it.

Yeah, it's potentially one of our higher picks in a long time and what looks to be a very good draft.

Our 1st and then 2 2nds (NJ is looking like a high one) and 2 3rds (MIN highish too) is going to be great for continuing to restock the pipeline. They should not trade any of these picks.

If a deadline trade comes up it maybe should be just looking back a few drafts to like 2015, 2016 and figuring out if any of the prospects there don't project to being in the team plans. And that's all we have to offer up, sorry. If that means no deadline trades at all, so be it (so much the better perhaps). Well, so long as we aren't actually sellers at that point, anyway.

Whatever Montgomery did has to be bad. No warning, Stars players have said no one has told them what happened and it's reported that it doesn't fall under player abuse.
