We have the worst GM in the league.

In league history.

He fails in the offseason. He fails in season. He fails at the deadline. He fails at the draft. He fails on July 1.

The leagues failure is having no other times for him to work.

All I can see is Botts doing this.

He got worked on the ROR trade, what other trades?

Mods can move as they see fit.

Besides the worst trade in years in this league.

Sheary and Hunwick sucked and he was shackled so he couldn't even move Hunwick without penalty. For no good reason.

Miller has been embarrassing, more future assets for a guy who has been healthy scratched repeatedly.

Vesey, same thing as above, futures for a useless ufa. A type of player that could just as easily have been gotten cheaper in ufa without a pick lost.

Better question, Joker and Skinner are the only two inarguable good results for the team. Let's pretend that how those trades happened were Botts being savvy.

In three years his only other maybe good move is... Montour? Who was expensive in trade, not an elc and about to get a large payday, while not really being a particularly effective player.

Ehh, mods please delete or move this to the Sun Cannon.

Many of these teams also had problems extending well beyond shaky netminders, of course. But their sieve-like goaltending didn’t help — the same way a superior backstop could potentially have saved the jobs of other equally mediocre bench bosses across the league. Even basketball coaches have the stability of star players to hold onto in the face of crushing job insecurity. But by relying on streaky goalies and icy puck-bounces as much as they do, hockey coaches are at the whims of near total randomness.

This aligns with the research about Jack Adams finalists usually having gotten really good goaltending.

Will fix everything
I had thought the Leaves were tanking to get Babcock fired, but I can see now I was wrong.

Toronto's issue has always been their defense. They've got an elite forward group and middling defense. It's been covered up because Anderson has played well. But you take Reilly out of that group, its a baaad defense.

Freddie has also been struggling for a couple of months. It’s a perfect storm.
