Well I'm rooting for the sockeyes, I think it is hilarious and I would really appreciate it, on a level similar to that Ohio AHL team that had a pig for a mascot. I could also see going with a Rainier theme and calling them the Seattle Eruption, or going with a whale theme and calling them the Killers or Orcas, I think a great theme could be built around the Seattle Killers.

I really like the Seattle Metropolitans (even though it was a team wwaaaaay back in the day).

First American team to win the Stanley Cup back in 1917.

And the name has a nice ring to it.

But I also understand the argument of creating your own name and not re using one from an old franchise that existed once before.
