Couture just got an 8x8 deal. I think we should be pretty thrilled with Backlund's new contract, given that they're somewhat comparable players over the last three years (Backlund the better defensive/possession player, Couture a notch better in terms of scoring).

Guys like Couture, Pavelski and Vlasic were on very good value deals prior to these new ones for the Sharks, and they've done good work, so the organization isn't even trying to stiff them. Things like this are a reason why players likely tend to consider them a top tier organization to play for.
