St. Louis was dead the second that Binnington contract was inked. Both for what it was and for what it meant moving forward, and things have continued exactly on that trajectory.

St Louis hasn't accepted that it was a one-off performance yet. They probably think that they can chase down Colorado.

Sad that 2/3 of the pending ufa dman that i thought we should go after next offseason signed long term deal. I guess we will need to look for a top 4 rhd via trade

What are the Blues options really? Even if they didn't make the Faulk move and retained AP, what would they be now?

AP and Parayko would be signed long term. Schenn is signed long term. They would have been in the market for a veteran LHD, maybe not Krug but someone else. ROR has 2 years left now. No young goalie ready to step up to challenge Binnington. Tarasenko still on the books for 2 years and they can't move him because of his shoulder as teams want to see him back playing first.

Their best RFA aged players are Thomas and Kyrou who are good but not top end players. Not much ready to come up to join the roster over the next 2 seasons.

They are a team that can make the playoffs, but really not contend for a Final 4 spot over the next 3-4 years. Then, when their long term deals are half way through, probably going to feel the drop in production like SJ has.
