So that's what hockey is.

I had forgotten.

I've actually really enjoyed following the Kings over the past 5 or so years. Kopitar, Doughty and Quick are some of my favorite NHL'ers, and have always been exciting. There are now lots of players on LA that I really like as in Carter, Williams, Toffoli, Pearson.

LA is going to be good for plenty of years, taking into account they manage their cap well enough, which will be difficult if their players keep performing like this.

What exactly is LA King doing in order to pull this off? is it the personal? Coaching?

It doesnt help us and san jose are not running away with the chances the kings have given us especially in January. The kings have had a poor record in janurary and us and san jose have done nothing to make them pay for it in the standings.

It definitely helps to have that leadership they core they do, say what you will about guys like doughty, much like toews they are poor loosers, those guys dont go down without a fight and work extremely hard every shift when the games on the line.

I'm just waiting till Brown regresses and that contract bites them in the ass. Also hope that they have to keep Richards contract

7 million dollars for 19 points is an issue....... LA fans are just lucky they have the depth to make up for Brown been crappy

I guess we will find out but i believe last year at this time they were playing at a more consistent level than they currently are and they still had enough to win 3 game 7's.

This is only the kings 2nd win in the last 8 games.

Yeah, pretty remarkable that they had enough gas for those game seven wins, or even to be as competitive as they have been for three seasons now. They've played 324 games over the last three years, and in comparison, the Canucks have played 221 games.

Pretty much everything. Their core is so resilient and never back down. I think the most important thing about LA is, that they have an identity. Sutter is a fantastic coach as well. Great supporting players for Kopitar, and Doughty. It's a perfect model on how you'd want to build a winner.

so...was this the moment the kings just flipped the switch?

Quite possibly and we could suffer greatly from that switch being turned on too.

That's what happens when you have depth, you can handle having a guy not producing as much. Brown helps out in other aspects at least, unlike some of our players who just disappear altogether.

Even shorty's "canucks report" was conspiracy bent. Cliffs:
-before he came here, shorty presumes benning probably felt about vancouver the way everyone else did, that we're conspiracy theorists
-now that benning's on the canucks and witnessed first hand the likes of burrows get suspended for 3 games, while similar or worse infractions against us (mathias getting headshotted, dorsett yesterday) go unpunished, he surmises benning probably feels a little differently now

Honestly, burrows should've just kept his peace in 2010.

So much for the old boys' club eh!

Jeff Carter is a dime of a hockey player, it's ridiculous to think how good this LA team would be if Richards didn't regress into a ****** player. It's hard to even say the Kings were built by "great scouting" they just constantly took the BPA (Kopitar, Doughty, Toffoli, Pearson etc) of course they've had their fair share of find too in Voynov, Muzzin, Martinez etc. Dean Lombardi pulled off the trade of the ages when he moved Jack Johnson a player who was an absolute boat anchor for them and a late 1st for Jeff Carter, it's ridiculous that Columbus fans try and spin that into a win/win either way you look at it they either gave up Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier for Jack Johnson and Marko Dano or Jeff Carter for them. The Kings will sneak into the playoffs once again and demolish the Ducks.

Preach. The Ducks are such a weird team, they remind me a lot of the second half 2012 Ducks yes, they are winning hockey games but they don't strike me as a scary team.

Agreed. I just don't see them dominating in the playoffs this year. We're a middling team, and it's not like they've blown us out of the waters, and yet, they're suppose to be a big, intimidating team. They don't scare me as much as LA, let's say. I'd even say SJ scares me as much as ANA does right now.

Honestly I the Shorks don't intimidate me at all. They have a decent top 6 their bottom 6 has to be up there with the worst bottom 6 in the league. They went out of their way to acquire John Scott that's how bad their bottom 6 is.

They don't particularly scare me either, it was just more of an example to express my level of scariness of the Ducks.

I dont really want the sharks first round, thats a team that goes balls to the wall and cant pace themselves in the first few games, the last two seasons they started playoffs at an unsustainable pace. It took an extremely resilient kings team to overcome them first round last year as they ran out of steam with each game (game 1 and 2 they played at an incredible pace and would have beat any team in the nhl imo in those first few games), they blew through us the year prior and by game 4 i felt they were considerably less dominant (unfortunately alot went wrong in that game 4 for us and the refs did not help). With that said I dont think we have a reslient team to overcome a possible 2 or 3 game deficit just like in 2013. They played worse that second round vs the kings often clinging to niemi's best year as a goal tender and winning one goal games with a banged up couture (ultimately loosing that final game).

2nd round they would not scare me as much, they will likely be banged up and playing at a slower pace as they run out of gas.

I am hoping the ducks have to face them or the kings first round.

I would generally prefer to see us face a team in the central, like the blues, hawks, ect... do i think we would beat those teams? No. Outside of calgary i dont like our chances against anyone but at least we played the blues well the past two seasons and the team seems to still perform well when the hawks come to town. Beyond that it would be an exciting series and the team would have 0 pressure or expectations... If we make the playoffs that is.

Vatanen is good too.

I like vatanen as a PP specialist and offensive d man but he can be an adventure in his own end. Lindholm is more responsible and a fantastic all around dman, i feel he can carry and will be able to carry the offense if required for the ducks in the coming years. Ducks fans will often point out lindholm will frequently babysit vatanen.

If we do make the playoffs I wouldn't mind playing the Ducks, Blues or Sharks. We aren't likely to beat the Ducks or Blues but like PG suggested the Ducks aren't that scary of a hockey team, I don't like their bottom 6 at all really, and everything about them screams average aside from their record. St. Louis is one of those teams that tends to extract all their energy in the regular season I don't think their playing style is sustainable and we seems to have their number recently, I don't think they've beaten us in regulation since 2011/2012. San Jose doesn't scare me like they have in years past, their transition game is really lacking with the departing of Boyle and Demers, Vlasic and Braun aren't eating up their minutes like they have in years past, and again I don't like their bottom 6 at all.

The Canucks won't beat anyone in the first round if they make it. I'd be happy if they made it to 6 games.
