But a 10.5m cap hit is huge. That's an 8th of your roster for one player. I think they'll do it with subban because they can weaponize his star power and willingness for publicity. Sorta like what MAF did for Vegas

I like Subban, always has been a likeable guy and personality.
Perhaps NJ trades him to Seattle as a side deal and Seattle only has to pay him 2 mil while if they selected him they'd have reimburse NJ for the 7mil signing bonus.
So then Subban at 2mil can be moved at the deadline with 50% retention where another team is only adding 1mil to their cap and gives up a 2nd & 4th
