Today, in things NHL executives will say off the record:

“The other thing about McDavid — to throw even more mud on it — they’ve been a horse**** organization. It’s been a gong show up there since Day 1 (for him). And who knows if they’re ever going to get out,” another NHL team executive said.

lol

Trade Hall back to Edmonton for McDavid if he doesn't re-sign. :sarcasm:

But seriously, NHL Execs are basically preaching to the choir here.

It's not exactly a secret that the Oilers organization has been a poorly-run one for a long time.

I feel bad that Connor's best years are going to be wasted there.

What a deal. Now they have a defense of Slavin, Pesce, Hamilton, Faulk, Gardiner and Van Riemsdyk

Priskie's decision to sign there didn't make any sense.

I figured he was 100% signing with the Rags

Thornton signs for another season with the Sharks. Let Pavelski go and resign Thornton, go figure.

Cap space is an issue for the Sharks. 1 year for 2 mil is easier to handle than the 3 years for 7 mil that Pavelski got. Pavelski is a candidate for a noticeable regression this season; He shot 20.4% last year which is hard to duplicate. If anything, they chose Erik Karlsson over Pavelski.

I bet Thornton could have gotten $4 million for 1 year on the open market. I wonder why he's giving the Sharks such a break, they have an okay shot at the cup, but I don't think they're one of the top teams or anything.

Seems like he's comfortable living in the area and moving didn't really appeal to him. I think Thornton's said that he'll likely end his pro career in Switzerland since that's where he met his wife during the 2004-05 lockout.
