Keep Bennett, his awfulness will help the tank next year.

I hope we get first line center Bennett all 82 games next year and the one after that.

What calibre do we want our 1C? Matt Stajan!

Seriously though. Stajan was a pure consummate pro.

This team needs more Bennett's, I hope we get a whole team of them for next year.

Break all kinds of modern NHL records for lowest Goals For, most penalties taken, longest time trailing in a game, most losses.

LA passed us so Flames are in 6th last, Jersey has 3 games in hand and play Buffalo tomorrow. A win would put them a point behind us.

Seattle slots in at 3 though so as of now the Flames are in 7th overall pre-draft.

It sucks because the Flames are terrible. They're underperforming but they're also a low talent team who's stuck between being a easy first round exit and missing the playoffs. The team is a lot younger and they actually have some decent prospects but in many ways they feel just like the Flames of 2010-2012. The issue is they aren't bad enough to compete with the Red Wings, Sabres and Ducks of the league.

We badly need some high draft picks.

Need some lotto luck tbh.
Pretty straight forward.

it’s f***ing insane to think how bad this team has been over the past 25 years with no top 3 picks ever.

Lack of interest in Ryan speaks to the incompetence of some NHL GM’s. He’s the exact type of player they should be looking to add

Absolutely. He is having a very poor season by his standards though. Still, if we retained he could improve the bottom 6 of most teams.

It is utterly silly to not retain on a guy who's contract is up this summer. If it gets you an asset, who cares?

Yeah definitely a step back, but a guy who can play most anywhere in a lineup in a pinch, kill penalties, is almost a certain upgrade at 4C (possibly even 3C) in some cases should at least be able to fetch something

Derek Ryan is almost 35. Having a bad season. Never really had any playoffs success. Overpaid for the 4th line. Been waived multiple times

I mean someone may give a 5th for depth but I doubt there is competition for him

next year, he would be lucky just to get a contract. May come back here or Seattle on a Michael Stone special
