They left it pretty open. It could be another 1000 years but Toronto will win another Cup. Completely agree with this Pulitzer worthy headline.
Well we know its not 2019
We will find out next year!
The Jets have a really good team now though so that prediction has a decent shot of coming true.
At this point, the Leafs could win the Cup, Babcock could say post-game that they're looking forward to going for a second one next year, and Leafs Nation would call him a "Leaf hater".It's just THN trolling the Leafs again. Most of their articles I see are anti Leafs and this one is probably akin to a Leafs hater posing as a Leafs fan and saying something stupid to piss off the Leafs haters.
As for the meat of the article, it would be hard to make the case that the Leafs aren't on the path to a Cup. But there is still much work to do. And, of course, no guarantees.
If it can't be the Oilers... I accept this outcome.

" it's only a matter of when". Hm....
Impossible to make a prediction like that. To win a cup a lot has to go right for a team, even for a team with an excellent prospect pool and NHL roster. Look at the Capitals for proof. They have been a very strong team, considered Cup favorites multiple times with excellent goaltending, defense and led by Alexander Ovechkin, one of the best pure goal scorers in history yet despite this they have failed to win the Cup year after year. Yes the Leafs and the Jets have excellent young teams and will be playoff teams for years to come but it is far from certain if either of these teams will win the cup with the cores that they have in place.
