Lost a game we could have won. Complain about the lines but we got beat because of Getzlaf, Perry, and Selanne. We don't even have 1 guy like that let alone 3.

So many puzzling things.
Cullen starts 4th line
Fisher not taking faceoffs ( injured?)
Nystrom - 0 shifts in 3rd period?
Wilson 50% on faceoffs ( when was the last time he had the majority of faceoffs)
Legwand 38% faceoffs
Back to Nystrom, unless he said something after that third goal, why would he get benched?

Our season is essentially done because of what a total fool we have for a General Manager. Knowing full well that we had a Goalie coming in from a major injury to start the season he did not get a quality backup to allow for the possibility that Pekka may not be ready for the season. Unfortunately that proved to be the case and we are stuck with two, mediocre at best, goalies. The stacking the team with Grinders also leaves doubt as to Poile's abilities. Don't be surprised when the U.S. Olympic team is treated to a short stay in Sochi.

So we are going to mention Weber a -2. Yeah, so much he could have done.
Dude played lights out tonight. Again ridiculous!!

And that my friends is why #grit is a bunch of garbage. Put the Preds down 2-0 after one and you can pretty much book the loss. Witb a team like the Ducks with actual forwards you always have that hope that they can put on a run like they did in the second.

Hoping I am wrong but laughed at the omission of Bobby Ryan. It seems like a pure offensive player has been left of the roster for "role" players. Thinking if Poille is involved, this makes sense!

We are one of the worst passing teams I've ever seen on that ice. This entire team is built so incredibly bad it's comical. We have literally the same style of player making up 75% of this team. I am absolutely baffled by the moves Poile made in the offseason. He goes and trades Erat for Forsberg and then signs four guys that add absolutely nothing of substance to this team. When is enough enough? There better be a master plan behind all of this. I sense a fire sale coming where we trade off the likes of Legwand, Klein, Gaustad, Wilson for a ton of draft picks.

Nystrom was benched because he kept losing his man. He was terrible tonight. And it wasn't Weber and Josi's strongest game either. Fun, entertaining game to watch. Clean. Fast. Hard hitting.

Agreed on Nystrom. He was a -3, and should PROBABLY be the next healthy scratch.

Also, I have a new nickname for Stalberg... KOSTITSYN :) Either one of them... another BUM. Ugh.

As for ANYONE upset about Trotz giving Clune some time with Wilson and Fisher towards the end of the game, remember that Clune is one of... TWO (the other being Hornqvist) players on this team that will stand in the dirty area known as the crease. His goal tonight was once again a reflection of his willingness and hard work. For a guy getting six to seven minutes of ice a game, and no special team play, he does a hell of a lot more than most of the stiffs who skate softly up and down the ice.

Ryan ellis is +3. Weber is -2.

The reasons +/- is a statistic used by fools.

And then there are the fools who miss the fact that Ellis had a TERRIFIC game tonight, whereas Weber was not a gamebreaker in the Preds favor to say the least. Some nights, he's just not a guy who makes the kind of difference as say a Suter, or a Doughty, or a Keith or other guys in his $$ caliber make.

Can't give up 4 goals in a period in any game and expect to win.

Yep. One day after Trotz is quoted as saying it's the most focused and detailed group in 10 years. Focused teams don't let in four goals in 20 mins.

I understand that the team's system is sacrificing offense for elite D, but that's frustrating and unacceptable.

Thank you for recognizing the play of Rich Clune. Clune has an offensive upside that continually gets overlooked by Trotz. When he is in the game things happen. He brings a lot more than just energy, and it baffles me that the Preds resigned him this year and then brought in a couple of higher paid "hard to play against" types. That extra money, and what they pay Hutton, could have been used toward a decent back-up goalie. As long as Poile designs the team, and Trotz coaches it we will be middle of the pack at best.

Near where sand and waves meet.
Crisp and Lambert both touched upon a topic last night that bit the team hard ... the sloppy play in our own zone leading to turnovers and the failure to get the puck across their blueline giving them numbers. Our puck support in the defensive zone sucked last night. Josi from behind the net with a weak pass up the boards leading to the first Ducks goal. The deflected pass from Wilson to Weber getting into neutral ice then the blind fling back up the boards straight to the rushing Ducks for their second goal. Nystrom with the pass to Getzlaf at their blueline leading to the third.

When the team is playing well, it passes the puck to people dressed in the same outfit in the defensive zone and gets the puck deep in the offensive zone. When it's off, collect the puck, push it to an empty area of the ice in the defensive zone, try to get it back after the opposing team collects it, repeat often. While the first was a relatively good period of hockey, the passes to nobody in the defensive zone were far too common. Luckily our offensive pressure and team shot blocking covered those early mistakes. When the Ducks came out hard in the second, the boys failed to counter it and the mistakes became amplified.

FF9 also has a serious offensive upside that is overlooked by Trotz.

Team sucks. GM sucks. Coach sucks.

Suter does something that Weber can't and visa versa. Neither are perfect.

You're just attached to the one that got away.

And as far as Weber not being elite, that's just flipping stupid.

Nobody is overlooking Forsberg's upside. What is noticed is that he isn't coming close to reaching it in his NHL play this season and he needs further development if he is going to be successful at this level.

17 career NHL games, 0 ES goals, 1 ES assist ... actually worse ES numbers than Clune.
