Good for Andlauer I guess. I would prefer a bigger tougher owner though. I'm not sure how his perimeter game and soft negotiations with the limited partners will fit into a DJ Smith team.

He moved the AHL team twice in 10 years.
My research is showing the first move to St. John's was a result of Andlauer selling the team to the Canadiens, and the move to Laval had nothing to do with Andlauer. Am I missing something?

EDIT: Well, not NOTHING to do, obviously, as he still part-owned the Habs. But more like, wasn't his sole decision, feels unfair to pin it solely on him.

If there's any truth to the rumour the Kimels wanted to bring in Chayka, what a massive bullet dodged.

He's quite possibly the worst GM of all-time not named Mike Milbury.

Why anyone would want to hire him again blows my mind.

How rich is he relative to other owners in the league, like is he middle of the pack rich or higher end like the Leafs, Habs, Rags, etc...

ya, AHL teams get pushed all over the place. Sens left Bingo and the Devils' AHL team moved in. I wonder if it's harder to move an AHL team than an NHL team?

nothing makes you long for the father more than having to deal with the son!!!!!

we will be regretting this in 4-5 years and longing for the Melnyk days!!!

I fear the same.
Doubt. Melnyk set quite the standard for divorces, fights with yacht captains, liver transplants, drunken threats to leave town, yoinking back bonus money from staff, public fights with players when their bonus' were due, firing private plane captains in the 'obviously incorrect way', fights with media etc.

I'll start to get worried if Andlauer aggressively refuses to do radio interviews in Ottawa.

1394 Richmond Rd is where you should be presenting this material, not here.

Seriously. Lets not go back to pretending it was a money issue with Melnyk.

And to think that the opportunity of being the Senators owner and one very generous fan stepping up basically extended his life, despite all the shit.

What an unprecedented ownership tenure.

The Habs moved their AHL affiliate to St. John's after buying it from Andlauer. They had intended to switch it anyway, he owned the AHL team but he couldn't force the Habs to be an affiliate so he sold it. He then immediately bought the Belleville Bulls and moved them to Hamilton.

So while it's true he moved a team, it was to fill the gap in Hamilton left by the Habs moving their AHL team out.

Melnyk was walking on water from 2003-2008. Everyone called him Mr. Melnyk just about bowed.

then the other side; of him, of us, of the situation surfaced.. And suddenly the Messiah became the Pariah.

Once bitten is twice shy. I will see what the new owner(s) does.. Let's hope we have the Prince Charming that we want.
