Waiving Alzner still doesn't undo the mistake of signing Alzner in the first place Marc. What were you and your pro scouts even thinking signing a defenseman who was an healthy scratch for the Caps in the playoffs just a few months prior to signing him. That should've been clue #1 that signing Alzner longterm was gonna be a huge mistake.

Signing Alzner is arguably Bergevin's worst move, since it also ate up cap space that could have gone towards bringing back Markov and Radulov. I expect he'll be bought out at the end of the season.

It was a super obvious mistake of a signing that exposed Bergevin for his lack of ability to properly evaluate talent or manage assets.

But, once upon a time Bergevin would be too stupid and stubborn to ever admit his mistake and would have never done something like that. The fact that Bergevin is now acknowledging his incompetence is a huge step forward for this organization.
