Amazing to see the rhetoric about reopening along side the images of him 20 ft away from anyone in interview
Seems about right. This is and has always been do as I say, not as I do. It's who he is as a person. He's isolated from everything, doesn't have to do menial things like commute to a crowded office building, go grocery shopping, get gas, etc...
Plus he has as many tests available to him and the people around him as he wants, and has a top notch medical staff ready if he does get the virus by some freak chance. His experience is so far away from the typical American citizen that he probably doesn't even realize it.
Raimondo orders all R.I. residents to wear masks in public; coronavirus deaths up to 355 - The Boston Globe
PROVIDENCE - With “phase one” of Governor Gina Raimondo’s plan to reopen Rhode Island’s economy set to begin this weekend, Raimondo announced Tuesday that she will sign an executive order requiring all residents to wear a mask whenever they are in public.
The order, which will take effect Friday, expands on an existing policy that requires employees at “customer-facing” businesses to wear masks. Raimondo has previously urged all resident to wear masks in public, but the policy was not considered mandatory.
For the first time her daily press conferences started two months ago, Raimondo wore a mask herself before removing it to begin speaking. She said that rather than asking questions about the new policy or searching for reasons to not wear a mask, residents should follow a simple mantra:
“Don’t leave your house without a face mask,” she said. It’s unclear if fines will be issued for people who violate the order.
I’m of the mind with appropriate ppe and real enforcement of it places like these should be restarted.
Having said that refusal to do so should be no different than what happens when someone tells the TSA they wont take off their shoes and go through scanning.
Why not? Hong Kong is sending every citizen a reusable mask that can be used up to 60 times. New York city is handing out 7.5 million masks.
Austria Has 90% Drop in Coronavirus Cases After Requiring People to Wear Face Masks
Life needs to roll again, with safety foremost. We may as well figure out how to do it, because in spite of great efforts there may never be a vaccine for this thing.
I own a bathroom renovation company. For the last 6 weeks (when I've gone in to my office) I've been the only one in the building. Today the ladies in the dog grooming shop were in, and it was a breath of fresh air to have someone else in the building, and see a shuttered business get running again, 2 people having fun doing a job they love, in a business they own. The Province set out some rules. Their clients aren't allowed in the building, they have to call in, the ladies come out to get their dog, the client waits in the car until the work is done. Rules in place for how far apart the work stations are, rules for cleaning stations, baths, etc..
My company, we're doing 1 person jobs mostly. When it requires more than 1 person, my son and I do the job because that means workers aren't exposed to each other. My truck has Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, gloves, masks. We meet the client wearing a mask, they spend the day in another room, usually the basement. Anytime we need to be close, we have a mask on.
Hair Salon. Tattoo Shop. Kids Special Education. Hopefully open soon. Dance Studio - they might have to wait a bit.
But each of these shops, is someones business. We all poured our hearts into our businesses, in some cases our families sacraficed too. Our workers enjoy working, and making an earning to care for their families. None of us want government handouts.
We can beat this damn thing. And be safe to ourselves and people around us doing it.
