Hawks really nerd a superstar draft prospect ..but even IF they are a lottery team they probably will be the usual 8-15 pre-lotto spot and to expect another top 3 after lotto is asking too much.

Anyway IF Hawkd get extremely luck with a lotto and get either #1 or#2 overall..I now have Matco Rossi right up there with Alexis Lafreniere as the 2 best prospects in this draft ...

Here are the comparisons of what they have done in their junior leagues so far...Lafreniere is #1 in QMJGL scoring g and Rossi leads the OHL in scoring..

Rossi as a Center does mire things of value than does Lafrenierexas a LW. OVERALL Rossi is better in more categories ..

Here are the numbers:

Lafreniere (Rimouski ,QMJHL):

32 GP 23g 47a =70pts +20 s% = 13.69 (168shog)
Points per game= 2.1875l

Rossi (Ottawa ,OHL)

28GP 24g 42a =66pts +43 s% =23.76
(101 shog)

Faceoff win% 58%*

Points per game = 2.35

*Rossi as a C takes a lot of draws ...Lafreniere as a LW takes few draws..so not fair to compare them on this ..but it does add to the value of Rossi in a would you rather have a Cor LW debate.

As to goals scoring and assists I think Rossi with 4 games less played would probably get 8 or more points and that would put him 4 points or more ahead of Kafreniere.

As to shot...you can see Rossi has superior efficiency but Kafreniere gets off a lit more shots ...While getti g off shots is nice..it matters only in the end how many go in the net ..

Bit let us call the offensive production equally good comparing them..Rossi gets extra value
For faceoff win contribution and while both are credited as 2 way players who give effort and defensive responsibility...this +/- numbers for Ross (+43)already ...with hald a season remaining are incredible given his big lead over all others on the OHL (he is tops in +/_ by a wide matgin) and more than double over Lafreniere...and while +/_ is usually attributed mostly to team circumstance (how good his team around him is) you must realize that last season Rossi finished at +51..and his oacebon +/- with half a season to go will smash that stat of last season by a lot..on pace for maybe +85 or more..

He is just such a good player in all categories..

The only thing he has not got is height (5'9-5'10) ...but like Crosby or Marchand is also very strong on lower body...thus great balance and wi s board battles and hard to dispossess off the puck.

He is a complete hockey player ..does everything well...

Will play and impact in the NHL next season for the lucky team that drafts him.

He may not go as high as he should because of the bias vs.smaller players (height)..He has added weight this season so he is pr ably closer to 190 than180 now.

For instance ..if NJ does not get the #1 pick they will not take Rossi because last year day drafted Generational Jack as their small C superstar (they hipe)...
They will go for a winger or for a Big C in Byfield to compliment Hughes.

So likely Rossi will go only #3 or lower depending on certain teams positional needs and current depth.

But if the Hawks get lucky and get a #2 or#3 after lotto then I would want Rossi who would have a huge impact on the Hawks

Likecaddibg a Kane on offense but also get the benefit of a much better defensive game and also a great faceoff guy.Tge future 1C after the inevitable drop down in lines fir agai ng Toews.

Will the Hawks get that lucky?Probably not .

If you have not seen the magic of Marco Rossi just Google Draft Dynasty Marco Rossi and you will get a Scouting Reportt with extensive video which was done 1month ago ..beforecRosdi went to an even higher level over the past month!

You will see elite passing and puck co trolls skills..plus an analysis of his defending excellence . The analysis suggests he could be more accurate with his shot but cone on 23.7shooting % and this guy asks for even more accuracy?...this tells you that when he shoots he is getting really good scoring chances even though he likes to distribute so much. Not a perimeter player but goes to the tough slot areas and will do screens too ...does it all...you cannot find fault in his game.

I have said..he is the most complete hockey player in the 2020 draft ..Any team getting him will be getting a gem.

BTW....the CHL NHL Top Prospects Game will be played Thursday January 16th....

Team Red will have Alexis Lafreniere and Cole Perfetti and Team white will feature Marco Rossi and Quinton Byfield ...If Oerfetti plays Center in the game he could be on with Lafreniere as his LW ..but perhaps they put Perfetti at RW with Lafreniere and load up a line that way with so done else at Center.

Since both Rossi and Byfield are Centers expect they will play on different lines for their team..

I have no idea. Ben Youds was playing at forward so I'm guessing injuries?! They've all been playing well. So I don't know why they'd be scratched for a D to play F

Just listening to the game. They mentioned 9 ice hogs are out, either called up or out with injuries.
So they skated youds and signed Watson to a pto.

Watching the Guelph at Ottawa OHL game tonight ...Guelph(2nd place in the Western Conference) vs.Ottawa (1st in the Eastern Coference and entire OHL and top team in the entire CHL ) ....Guelpg get off to a 3-0 lead in the first 6monutrs and bit of the opening period.. Otawa gets 1 back ..Guelph scores again to go up 4-1 ..but ...no fear Ottawa gets another 2 goals to cut the lead to 4-3...but Gieloh scores again to go up 5-3 ...but before the 1st oeriodcends Ottawa scores again...So 9 goals in period 1 ...unusual because Gulelph in 2nd in the Western Co ference in goals against and Ottawa in tops in goals against I the League...

So a crazy period.Otawa was playing its 17 yr old back-up goalie who let in thise 3 early goals thought Ottawa did not help him much with a poir start.

Guelph decides to remove its #1 goalie ,Noco Dawes..who made TeM CanDa at tge Workd Juniors...was the starter for teM CanD there bit played so poorly he list the net to Canada'as other goalie who played the rest of the tournament and led them to Gold.

So Guelph puts in their back-up to start the 2nd period..Ottaea scores 2 more goals to take the lead 6-5 ...Will Cranley the 17 yr old 2021 draft settles down and does not give up a goal in period 2.

But now in period 3 ...Cranlwy just made a big error coming way out of his net and turns over the puck and Guelph scores so score is now 6-6 ...But On very next shift ...26 seconds after that goal,Ottawa scores to re-take the lead...7-6 Otawa at 6:39 of the 3rd period...Goals coming g faster than cAn pist this!

Guleph has 3 if its 6 goals unassisted as they came from sloppy Ottawa turnovers...InusuL forctge top team in Canada...

Oh yes...forgot to tell you...Marco Rosdi has 4 points so far for Ottawa...All primary assists...3 of the apples were world -class passes...highlight reel passes...The other was just a routine dish to Okutyuk the dman ...who scored on a shot...But the point is after starting the plY by giving it back to the point ,Rossi goes right to the front of the net ...Okutyuk takes the puck in deep from the point and shots down low at the goal line on the left boards ...goalie never saw the shot because of Rosdi's screen...so Rosdi gets primary assist o tbis o e for merely sending the puck back to the point ..but the goal ensuing was scored because of a great screen by Rossi.

This is 4 great workd class plays by Rosdi..3 great primary set-ups and 1 great screen...4 goals resulted. He is a great hockey player...and he also has thrown in a big hit separating a Guelph. player off the puck.

And Ottawa adds 2 more...wins the game 9-6...

Rossi ends with "just" the 4 assists...

OTTAWA wins 17th game in a row ...Record now 30wins only 6 losses. .

And they played with their back-up goalie tonight and without their stR dman Kevin Ball who was still off a on rest after his Workd Juniors for Canada..He comes back for their game tomorrow..

That will be the 1st time all season they will ice their their full compliment of starting dmen together .

So they will be even more deep than tonight.Plus they will get back in a few weeks another star forward who has Benoit with injury fir a few months (Graeme Clarke)..

This team is deep and rifhtfullybthe best in all of CNadian Junuor hockey but it is led by that in credible 1st line of LKating Rossi and Gareffa ..Yt is magic how they can generate with crisp passing and shooting ..but whike his wingers are goidvintheirvown right thd real magician us Rossi who is world-class in
so many of the things he does with excellence.

He easily could have had a couple mire assists tonight ..some great feedsxthat were not co inverted. He just makes plays onthe puck and with the puck.. a treat to watch such a great player.

Also about a week ago Icehogs signed Lw Josh Winquist to a pto also.
That's gives the hogs 4 players playing on PTO's right now.
Ben Youds, Peter Quennville, Spencer Watson and Josh Winquist.
